Poor Knight. Went from instant for sure NHL superstar after the 2010 draft to being forgotten after the next guy was drafted in 2011.

Boston had to trade Kessel no matter what because he wanted too much money. He pretty much said pay me or trade me. Expect the same attitude when he becomes a UFA.

He's a giant wussy until it comes time to negotiate a contract... then he's a nightmare from hell.

Well think about it. Nash is on the block, the Blue Jackets are probably going to end up with Yakupov and still don't really have a center that fits their needs. In an attempt to shake things up, they get bigger up front by acquiring Nash for Kesler who has kind of underachieved this year. The Canucks were trying to get Nash when he was available so you know the interest is there. It just seems like a good fit for both teams. Plus, the Canucks might be able to dump Luongo on Columbus who need a goalie too. Kesler and Luongo for Nash and something. Just looks like it fits.

They should just keep telling him his contract depends on the next shift he plays.

Called James Neal....James 'The Real Deal' Neal.

THATS ALREADY TAKEN.

Dreger should be charged with tampering.

Some people have made good points about the "Pittsburgh model" comments Burke made and how they've had alot of success this year while Crosby was injured. Fair enough, but what people are forgetting is that PITT (and teams like DET, PHI, VAN, etc.) have established a culture of winning, an organizational-wide confidence that makes teams resilient to seemingly catastrophic losses like Crosby's concussions:

- the front office is confident in their ability to draft, to make the right roster moves, to negotiate the right contract prices because they have established a culture of winning.

- the players in turn want to resign with teams that have built a culture of winning because they... wait for it... want to play for a team that gives them the best chance of winning and success.

- the draftees and rookies learn what it takes to... steady... steady... be a winner in the NHL.

- the coaching staff stick around to nurture and develop their systems because they're not afraid of getting canned; the players in turn adopt said systems because the systems have proven to work.

- the team can dig itself out of holes and win seemingly lost games because they have the confidence in themselves to do so; losing streaks turn into winning streaks because of... you guessed it, winning.

Sounds simple? Well, it really is, but Toronto isn't there yet. We don't have a culture of winning in this city. We had it -- we had years of playoff success (if no cup) but because the team was terribly mismanaged for years under Quinn and JFJ, all that winning culture was squandered.

Fast forward to today, and well, Burke's not making it any easier on himself. If Wilson and himself always saw the team in the different light, then why did he hire him? It makes him look inconsistent and we have a soft, run-and-gun team that needs to make a paradigm shift in personnel and mindset to become the defensive first, net-out, truculent team that Burke (and the fans) have always wanted.

i agree with most of this post

Are you serious? If the Red Wings had to choose between a UFA Parise or Nash who they have to trade for, the choice should be easy. Parise. Even if they were both UFAs, Parise seems like the better fit. Already a tough competitor and defensive player. Nash needs more work albeit he has improved since his Hitchcock encounter.

Just remember the 2010 32nd pick Boston got from TO = pretty much a 1st round pick. 2011 30th pick TO got from Boston = pretty much a 2nd round pick.

Nash isn't a real power forward. He's big but he doesn't exactly use it. Holmstrom and Franzen both play bigger than Nash.

No way the Kings do that. Why would they get rid of their best center for a winger when they already have enough wingers?

The Canucks are going to need a way to dump Luongo and Columbus might be the only team desperate enough and dumb enough to take him.
