There is no question in my mind that the Flyers can win the Series.

Bryzgalov is going to have to be very good in this series. I think he will be up to the challenge.

+1, Malkin's shown to be both a monstrous threat offensively, and a player who can be taken off his game with chippy play. As for Crosby, he's shown even he'll give in and slash players, he won't get away with it everytime. Bolded statement will be key, overall, the Penguins won't waste PP opportunities.

I'm not to sure where people are thinking the Flyers have a physical edge. Sure we play more ov a chippy game, but I'm not sure outside of Rinaldo we have any heavy hitters. Hartnell and Simmonds throw the body, but I wouldnt say they are heavy hitters... And no-one on our D lays board shaking hits like Pronger used to.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Byrzgalov has decent numbers against teams not from Detroit in the playoffs. I mean... come on, as good a Byrz is, those Phoenix teams were outmatched by a better Detroit team. Not much Bryz could do...

Unfortunately, that is going to be key and I believe that the refs will want to have their hand in the outcome of this series....

God I hope not, but it's not out of the question given past examples around the league of poor officiating. The special teams is quite concerning, I know our powerplay has been successful, but it struggled without Grossmann, hopefully he helps sure it back up against a lethal Pens attack.

EDIT : PK struggled without grossmann

There's always the illusion that because they're the Philadelphia Flyers they're a bulldozing team. I don't think we lack physicality, though, even if we don't have a "bonecrusher", per se.

I might contend (in agreeing with you) that any goaltender whose postseason record primarily consists of games against Detroit would have sub-stellar numbers. They're a hell of a franchise.

I haven't read anyone say the Flyers have a physical edge. What's being said is that the Flyers have to play with a physical edge and get in the Pens grill. The Flyers have plenty of players who can do so, team wide. It doesn't have to be a heavy board rattling hit to be effective. That's just for the fans who want to watch the highlights.

I am glad we're semi healthy going into tomorrow. I have a feeling that the refs will call everything one game, then let clutching and grabbing going the next game and the third game, players won't know what to call. By the way, are the refs the same for the entire series? I think they are.

Yea, I think our team is built more to take a hit and keep skating then to throw hits...

exactly. just hit them every chance they get -- and even after the whistle, a little shove or talk trash or whatever, they can get in those girls heads.

i think the local dopes giving him a hard time before the season series is actually underway is going to work in his favor. i am not worried about fleury either.

Meaning he can be had? I think so too, I can see him stealing a game though, but he's looked pretty pedestrian in the season series.

agreed -- also some of the questions they ask him are just stupid -- and Fleury is good, but not unbeatable. It's going to be a heck of a first round series.

Yea, as long as no-one on the team shoots at his pad when they have the rest of the net to shoot at... Just saying...

Start watching the 5OT games now, when you factor in sleep it should be over by the time the game starts.

yes, he can be had. he's talented, and has a cup, blah, blah, blah. whatever. he might steal a game. if the team plays well defensively, bryz will outplay him. grossmann is a huge component here, but the rest of the team needs to do their part, ie, the forwards.

Randy Miller is an idiot for asking that question. I agree with Bryz dont ask a stupid ass question when the series hasnt even started. Why think negative all the time. Just stupid.
