Jethro...agree with both of your statements...some people have a problem with this statement but look for Snow to go with youth next season. It looks like Donovan will make it next year since he played a year in the minors and looks decent. deHaan would have made it but the injury set him back. Cizikas and Ulmstrom probably make the team up front. Don't forget about Aaron Ness also. Even if they brought two legit NHL caliber defensemen, Donovan would probably make it as the 6-7 defenseman.

You make this sound like its elementary and makes perfect sense? Just because Snow may very well do this does not mean its a good idea, in fact. Far from it.

I agree with you it isn't a good idea but at least one rookie defenseman will amke the team. I think but not sure...since Donovan and deHaan were brought up doesn't the "clock" on their entry level contract start ticking? I mean they would be in year 2 of their contract...

I guess the Rags found out last night how classy the Pens are. Nice knee to knee hit by Orpik on Stepan. Looks like Torts will be getting another fine by the league while Oprik gets nothing.

I didn't hear what Milbury said. I checked on the Rangers blog and they are going at it with the pens fans before. Ahhh brings back memories.

Torterella was and still is exactly what this team needs. When it was known he was available I was beyond pissed to find out the rags got him. Torterella = the complete opposite of Capuano

Torterella has the stones needed to be a great coach. He's not going to let the owner or GM or anyone else push him around.

There should be a rule that if you're a minus 20 or worse your contract gets voided. Jurcina is a travesty. If guys like Jurcina are the best "vets" the Isles can get, I'd rather pass on "vets" and stick orange cones on the ice and hope the opponents trip over them.

Im not saying he didnt have a bad season... i just think its funny how quickly everyone has turned on him..
last season.. the team record with him in the lineup had the fan base singing his praises

I'm indifferent to him, I think there are far worse players on this team whatever his plus/minuses are

I only use +/- on players I don't see on a regular basis as some sort of idea. With Jurcina, his problem is he doesn't use his body to his advantage. He doesn't even attempt to put anyone on their ass. It's extremely frustrating.

anyone think for a minute that okposo is finally healthy?? i had the exact same surgery as KO last season and it took a year until i felt like myself and i don't play hockey for a living...
- NYI78

I hope this is the answer to this past season. I'm a fan of his so I'm definitely somewhat biased towards him. However, next year will tell the true story on what he's capable of.

Having two kids with little or no NHL experience as our three or four dmen is not a good idea in any way. Let these kids develop and don't rush them. Saying I'd rather have them then Eaton and Jurcina is a little short sighted and not looking at the big picture. Donovan plays two games in the NHL and Dehaan a couple and the y are ready to be annointed NHL regulars on Hockeybuzz. Like you stated in the beginning of your post this team needs a Veteran presence on the blue line and everywhere else for that matter. Putting two kids on that blue line would be the stupidest thing that Snow could do. Which means it will probabaly happen
- Cptmjl

Eaton and Jurcina back on this team next year guarantees the same result. They are a combned minus 47 or something like that. I don't like rushing prospects either, but there is no way that de Haan and Donavan can possibly do worse than Eaton/Jurcina.

I think bringing back Staios is a guarantee (not that I'm happy about that). That fills out four of the top six slots on "D". Unless you get guys that are not Eaton/Jurcina/Mottau to fill out the last pair, I don't see any other choice but to go with Donavan and de Haan or Ness. Reese is a 7th guy, no more. Hamonic made the jump to the NHL after only one year of the "A" and it worked out fine for him. Hopefully, the same can be said for de Haan and Donavan.

I hear what you are saying and agree but we are guaranteed the same result with either line up. There is no pint in rushing these kids. If Snow can't sign or trade for a 3/4 dman then he has no buisness even having the title of GM. This team has no chance of making the playoffs next year unless there are some signifigant additions made to this lineup and I'm not talking about bolstering our blue line with eighteen to twenty year old kids. I understand your point that Snow is not going to do anything but if filling that role is that hard this guy has NO buisness even being associated with the NHL and should be held accountable for it.

Ness should not have a place on this team next year, at all. I'm trying to argue whether or not Snow's intentions are to "go with youth" because frankly neither of us know..but if he does, expect the same outcome next year as the last few. Ullstrom will more than likely make it. Cizikas could play 3rd line center I suppose, assuming no other centers come in. Donovan and deHaan both have very legitimate shots at making this team, but lets not start awarding them guaranteed roster spots when, after the season ends, they will have a whopping 3 games and 1 game of NHL experience, respectively.

I agree. I'll take Donovan and DeHaan anyday over these vet dmen. Both guys have to be ready or at least close to being ready. It's a very small sample but both guys did not look out of place. Good point about Hamonic. If the Isles can bring in better Vet dmen than fine otherwise I have no problem with Donovan or DeHaan both making the team.

accountable
for it.

You made two good points in your post..Snow has no business being GM...agreed..and accountability...the only accountability is keeping the salary cap to to the floor...wins and losses don't seem to matter to Wang...

Rolston, yes. Reasoner, probably. Pandolfo, not for me. He does the things he needs to do. And regardless of his talent level, he always gives his all.

I for one never liked him or that MSG made up stat last season and wasn't all that pleased when we resigned him. Sure we had a nice win record with him in the line up, well it helps when he sat out injured during most of the month long losing streak, and I don't think him being in the line up woulda changed that.

Problem I have with him is he doesn't have Hockey sense and he doesn't do the things you should as a defenseman if you don't have that. Use your size infront of the net and his hits are weak, as is his skating
