Sophomore slump was to be expected...unless you're EE then you pencil him in for 20 goals at least |

He's not top 5, maybe in the future, but not now. - mr.peanut
He isn't?
Lundqvist
Fleury
Quick
Kipper
Miller
Thomas
Price
Put Price on any of the teams above and he's the best in the league. As much as I hate saying it, it's true.

Wow.
Grabovski is closer to being a #1 center than Phaneuf is to being a #1 D or Reimer/Gus are to being a #1 Goalie.
You could maybe argue Phaneuf based on points, but good lord he is awful in his own end and has played like a 5-d Dman for about 3 months now. - GoneFullRetard
I didn't say anything about the center position. I do agree that we need a top center. Grabovski isn't the solution. I would've traded him.
Phaneuf and Reimer will bounce back. I'm sure of that. Not every team can have an elite goaltender. I believe Lundqvist, Rinne and Quick are the only elite goaltenders left. Average goaltending will get you in the playoffs and maybe even win a championship. Ask the Hawks. |

they're the Leafs with a franchise goalie, a young stud dman and a higher draft pick. |

But does his turnaround have to do with the fact MTL is out of the playoff race. Next season if they are back in he could return to his former self.
I'm just saying because it seems he is emotional out there and gets more aggressive with more emotion and that seems to be the problem sometimes.
Back in a playoff race would put the spotlight on him again maybe.

I'm not sure if I should even reply to this but hell, I'll give it a shot.
Do the Habs even have any prospects? Beaulieu is supposed to be their best but from what I've seen, he'll be a third pairing defenseman at best.
Gallagher is too small. He'd be useless as a third or fourth line forward and I can't see him being effective as a top 6 forward. We saw that at the WJC.
LeBlanc is decent. He'll be an effective third line center as he's extremely smart. He doesn't have the offensive upside though.
Our prospect pool is so much more deeper. Ask Huddle or people who analyze prospects. - thomas81
According to experts, this is False. I do not consider Huddle as an expert |

You cannot draw a huge correlation between the success of an AHL club and the future of an NHL club, unless the AHL club is winning because it is stacked with top notch prospects.
This is just simply not the case in Toronto. |

I believe too much was aexpected from him early in the season.
He was playing 27+ minutes per game in his second NHL season and was annointed by default the #1 Defenseman role.
Now that they reduced his ice time, he's playing much better. |

Phaneuf is a #2 D-man at best. He needs another player as good as him, at least, to play with.
He will never be a #1.
Google Lars Eller - Phaneuf, or watch any of his shifts. He is not a good defender. Without Gunarsson he is downright awful.
Burke builds his teams from the Net out. Well he filled the net with ??? and his D-core looks good on paper, not on ice. |

Not that you would ever admit that they're having success.
Having an AHL team win a championship is a big part of becoming a winning franchise. |

If Holzer pans out, I really think he is a guy that should play with Phaneuf. A rock solid stay at home type. Phaneuf can do whatever he wants basically.
I think Gardiner / Schenn are a great future and they should play together a lot.
Why does it seem that Franson is always the odd man out? I thought he was decent for the times he did play. More preferably than Komi although you can't argue Komi's effort lately.
