totally. just cant get over the high from screaming my lungs out at yesterday's game. When Hartsy scored, I lifted my 7 yr old over my head as the stadium erupted. In the car, I asked my son how he felt being there and being up in the air for all of the excitment. He said "it was awesome, I felt like I was the Stanley Cup being held in the air"!! Frankng ROCKS. - FlyersFirst
Simply electric. It was the best non-playoffs game I've ever been to. I laughed, I cried, I shouted at cross-state weirdos.

That season opener was one the few highlights for Pelle Lindbergh in his second season in the NHL. Actually, he was NHL Player the Week for the first week of the season and runner up for Player of the Month. Wasn't til November that his year started to fall apart.

I dont mind the realignment, but seriously... Florida and Tampa with the NE?????? They are just trying to set up a canadian team in the finals every year with that playoff format...
And really... Crosby, Malkin, Ovechkin, Giroux, Lundquist, Fluery, Ward.... All in the same Conference.... Why bother televising anything but the Atlantic.... - RooNosHockey
Yeah, the stiffness of our conferencedivisionthing is why I'd dislike a playoffs that has us playing rivals for the first two rounds. As for regular season, the benefit of that other eastern conference is that Florida and Tampa don't get the benefit of a schedule that consists mostly of their weak divisional rivals like right now.
Dont you think these conferences would be better goegraphically wise?

this was also a great game. my wife had been 0 for 2 at live games. This was her third game and got her off the schneid.

Outstanding game in recent years. Most of us will remember the the pass from Giroux that went between Hartnell's legs and on to Pronger's stick for the win in regulation but I remember Hartnell's goal to lie things up just as much. That guy was having a horrid season and many wanted Hartnell gone. It was Hartnell's determination to score that single goal that made me think that this guy is worth keeping around. A months later the Briere, Leino and Hartnell line were put together.
Without watching, is that the Blackhawks game a couple years ago? I thought of that one shortly after yesterday's no-time-left-to-spare win. - BulliesPhan87
A look into the mind of BP87: During yesterday's overtime, the Queen song "Keep Yourself Alive" was playing in my head. It was awesomely appropriate. - BulliesPhan87
Love that song!!!!

yes and Hartnell's earlier goal, from a great pass by Kimmo (I believe), was also awesome.

It's been a hell of an earworm to me lately. I just hope they know they have to keep on trying and get better ev'ry day. Can't just be satisfied to stay right where they are

How, exactly, does that work geographically? Both the Devils and Islanders are north of the Flyers. It'd make more sense if you swapped the Isles and Flyers
Jen @NHLhistorygirl
On this date in 2002, #Caps traded Adam Oates to #Flyers for Maxime Ouellet and first-, second- and third-round picks in the 2002 Draft.
Question for you guys... would you rather win 1 cup and then suck at least 18 years, or would you rather be in it every year, but just not win it for 18 years... from a retro spective?
Me I would rather my team be good every year with a chance to win, then bad for 18 years...

so are you asking if we'd rather have 1 cup in 18 years or no cups in 18 years?

I know this looks like a terrible trade but in my mind, it's not as bad if the Flyers actually re-sign Oates. I just remember June 2002 and Bob Clarke informing the media that the team had no interest in bringing him back. I believe a year later Oates finds himself in the Stanley Cup Finals with the Mighty Ducks.

The only reason that the trade was made was because Primeau and Roenick got hurt the night before, in a road game against Tampa Bay. They couldn't get them back to Philly in time to be sure they would make it back for the playoffs. Had they not had JR or Primeau, they faced going into the postseason with Jiri Dopita, Marty Murray and Peter White as their top 3 centers.
