What shocks me is that you posit this as moves that are a)not consensus/popular and b)not what Tambs and co. will very likely move. This would be an expected off-season plan, and generally is a "stay the course" offseason at that.

It's not too wacky, and I like it. Let's hope that's what happens.

That being said, Reinhart will still be there at #7. If the oilers want him, trade down further, pick up extra assets, and take him there. As much blood from the stone as possible!

I don't see Schenn as "On the Block".

I do see that Franson and Gunnarson are very comparable statistically but Franson has done it in less time and less games.

I think that swapping the picks with Franson added on thier end is not going to fly, Burke is just too tight at times, but adding a player like Pecks (work in progress grinder type Dman for the lower parings) would make it a go.

Plus we have alot of Dmen on the roster as it is....we need to move some.

I just find it funny cause Peckham doesn't really add to the pot, he s more of a roster number balance

Tough to say right now, but if you can get another top 10 I don't know that you want it. The draft was once really deep, now not so much. If teams start tossing around the #5-10 picks one has to really wonder just how deep it is.

I think it depends if the price is right. Like I said if we can dump off an Omark, who is very skilled dont get me wrong but he just doesnt fit in our top six. Next year our top six should look like:
Hall-RNH-Eberle
Prv-Gagner-Hemsky
Anaheim might have a need for an Omark, especially if Selanne retires. As well as Peckham could bring them a decent 5/6 Dman but we have no need for him here. So if we could make a trade like that i say why not, at least gives us a chance to develop a bigger center with some skill.

I would much rather go for a young guy who fills an immediate need than get another draft pick. A #10 pick will most likely not be nhl ready next year. Also I dont think Omark peckham and the 32 pick are close to enough for a 10 -12 pick

Hey so would I, but that would probably be harder to acquire. You never know who is gonna be NHL ready, Skinner (7th) and Fowler (11th) both came into the NHL immediately but the good thing is that they dont need to come in next year. Like I said the top 6 next year should be set so that would give a guy like Faska/Galchenyuk a year to develop, then we try to move hemsky at some point then in two years our top six could look like:
Hall-RNH-Eberle
Prv-Faska/Galchenyuk/Gagner-Faska/Galchenyuk/Gagner (Depending on how is better at center/draws)

So we can have Gagner as C and RW, clones would be better than twins My biggest worry other than some of the talk from someone like Grigs is we finally have an up and comer 1st line center in Nuge, Gagner is a young vet who's starting to look great as a #2. Do we really want to draft someone who addresses a need we already have? I like the idea of trading our pick down for a quality NHl defensman and maybe being able to select someone like Reinhart or Trouba. What are people's thoughts about going even further and trading our 1st for one of Washington's picks to get a Carlson or Alzner. Then pick up Wideman as UFA.

Defense next year could be (let's say we get Carlson for funsies)
Carlson-Shultz
Petry-Smid
Wideman-Sutton
Potter
Whitney becomes expendable

If im Oilers this is what I do.
#1 - Do not draft a russian.
#2 - Pick a Dman.
#3 - Sign Gagner long term. Sign Smytty/petrell to 1 year deals.
#4 - Throw everything I have at Ryan Suter.
#5 - After failing to pick up Suter cry and hope that somehow one of our D prospects turns out to be a Norris winner.

Lol it was meant as he could go on either position depending on who was better on draws and such. If we get a center with size, aka Grigs/Galchenyuk/Faska, Gagner can play on the RW no problem, or if he is a better center both Grigs and Faska played RW i believe.

Is true. The team already has too many taking up space. If another is coming in we need to remove some.

But really, Washington might not even make the playoffs this year or if they do may fall really short again. If either is the case I think they're going to want to shake things up and if Edmontons draft pick is on the table that could be very tempting. Hell for one of Washington's firsts, and Carlson I would do that in a heartbeat. Then come July 1st don't know their relationship at all but maybe because of Carlson Wideman would be more inclined to come here.

On that we have agreement. I would love for the Oilers to move the pick for a defensive star or a real #1 goalie.

Here's an offer to the bruins who I know are not interested in trading Hamilton but here it goes.

Paajarvi and our 1st for Hamilton, Caron and their first rounder.

Thoughts?

Hamilton is suppose to be their next big thing on the backend. I just don't see him being moved.

For some reason, I think Marc Crawford makes sense.

But is it a good reason? Not a Crawford fan at all.
How about Krueger assisted by the guy who’s team won the Austrian League this year and the Baron’s guy?

Taylor Hall instantly becomes Captain of the team.

Horcoff is a great captain

I'm looking to trade down from the #2 pick

Yes, looking for a defenseman like you say. That Gilbert guy in Minnesota played over 30 minutes the other night. That’s what they need, a strong Righthander to play with Schultz. That way the human pylon can play on the third pairing with PP minutes.

At the draft, I'm finding deals for Eric Belanger and Nikolai Khabibulin

Nobody is giving you nothing for Khabibulin. Buy him out.

Belanger has been a disaster and a distraction for the team.

What’s he been doing, bringing coke & underage girls into the dressing room?

The Oilers re-sign Lennart Petrell.

Probably a good idea, he’s been looking better since Lander was sent down.

At some point the very deserving Teemu Hartikainen

.62 PPG in the AHL. Hmmmmm

So the only real UFA shopping needed is for a goalie. Are there any viable options?
