Only 3 or 4 of them. Still kind of love that Rinaldo chirped the refs and got a 10 minute misconduct after the game.
- Jsaquella

He could clown them every game at the 20:00 mark of the 3rd and I'd be ok with it (provided he only gets a 10-minute misconduct and nothing marginal in the next game). The target on his back is bigger than Downie's ever was, IMO.

Yep. And Jagr's knee is obviously affecting his brain when he said, "It's hockey. If you take those hits away, it's basketball."
- Jsaquella

I am a huge Wings fan, the league says last nights hit has good and clean, Jagr and Voracek agree. I love guys like Pronger, Neidermayer, Kronwall, Scott Stevens and Vlady. If you go up the ice admiring how pretty the puck looks on your stick you are gonna be destroyed by these types. Good luck Philly the rest of the way, hope to see you in the finals. Great retirement ceremony for Howe last night btw.

It is. But Zac does have quite a rep to live down. He's had suspension in every league he's been in and piled up the PIM. I like that he chirped, but he definitely has a target on him.

Amen, especially on the Howe ceremony. I would like to face a much weaker team, if the Flyers get to see a Western team in the playoffs..

Yep. Agreed. It IS a predatory hit. However, with the leeway provided by Rule 48, Kronwall gets no punishment. There's not even a half second between Voracek's slight turn and contact. If Voracek doesn't turn, Kronwall hits his shoulder.

There is nothing in the rule about predatory hits being illegal.

- Jsaquella

Shanahan has used the term predatory hit as a description and part of the reason why a suspension has been handed down many times previously.

Not predatory imo. Not in this instance. You are taught to make that hit since you're 12 years old.
- rockychocbill

Your correct. But the whole point of the rule changes is to change the mindset of the players as to what kind of hits are acceptable. Players have been taught to make the kinds of hits that Richards made on Booth since they were 12 also. But that is now illegal. So I don't see how what the players were taught since they were 12 is a valid reason.

The NHL should just change the rule in general during the offseason. Any type of contact to the head will result in a suspension. Take the gray area out of it and make it black and white.

The only problem I see with that is that some players are going to be suspended, due to something that is totally accidental. It will happen on occasion. I don't believe that Kronwall was looking to injure Voracek, or intentionally targeted the head.

If their trying to put the players safety first then what other option will they have? I dont think Kronwall meant to hit Voracek's head but based on his position it was hard to avoid. However, with a head shot rule Kronwall may not even deliver that hit.

He can hit them. I understand he is taller but he can still deliver a blow without taking their head off.

i guess i just don't want to see hitting removed from the game. if any hit to the head is suspension worthy, i think you will see a drop in all kinds of hits. just because players will be scared to accidentally hit the head. that goes too far IMO
