Well, I might ask.
What do you think of the Devils team, do you think they are playoff worthy, if so, how far do you think they go? Do you think ECF is a huge stretch, or a realistic possibility? (keep in mind they will most likely finish 4, 5, or 6, possibly even 7) - _Zippy_
After watching the game I realized it probably will be the Devils even more than the Bruins that will give us the most fits in a 7 game series. I really hope wherever the D's finish (likely 4,5 or 6) they somehow get eliminated cause a 7 game series w them will be a WAR on us. |

It's going to be a difficult ride no matter what. I really want no part of the Caps in the first round, but that is looking like a very real possibility. After that, a second round matchup would probably be with either the Devils, Flyers or Pens, and none of those matchups would be easy.
Ideally, I would prefer either the Jets or the Panthers in the first round. Not that those matchups would be easy, but given our history with the Caps, they would be preferrable.
It is certaintly not going to be an easy road. |

I don't know. Lundqvist gives the Devils fits, scoring wise. These two teams are so alike in so many ways, that they use the boards as much as the can is a strength for both teams. The Rangers due a good job of neutralizing their Devils in their zone, and the Devils do the same. |

It looks like the Rangers will be facing either the Jets, Senators, Leafs, Panthers, Capitals, and maybe the Devils, as it'll be hard for three Atlantic teams to sustain 4-5-6 while the Rangers are hot and they all play each other so much to close out the season.
I think the Jets and Leafs speed may give the Rangers fits. That Versteeg line for the Panthers just find each other so well, they can probably win the Panthers a series, barring solid goaltending. Capitals have always given Rangers difficulties, and the Senators may be at a disadvantage without Anderson.

Rangers have given up 1 goal in 3 games to Winnipeg this season, they've been able to handle their speed ok. |

Florida would be the best match up I think round 1. But by no means would I fear the Caps this time, yea I said it. |

They dominated the leafs last time they played them. Yhey couldn't handle the physical play. Leafs have no goaltending either. Jets struggle away from home |

The Leafs beat us twice early in the year. When we played in January we shut them down 3-0 with Biron in net, 1 mo meeting with them coming up. I wouldn't be afraid of them. |

I think he means that the Devils will wear the Rangers down in a 7 game series. Neither team will back down, it will be almost like a grind-it-out series, where the team that comes out of it will be almost out of gas. |

That would not be fun either. Any of our division rivals in a playoff series will be a WAR! |

When the Leafs have the puck, they are a difficult team to stop with that speed. Very difficult.
If you settle it down and start playing the cycle game, they are beatable, but if you let them take control of the tempo, their entire team has very good skaters.
Last time the Devils played them, they let the Leafs just skate their asses of and create nothing, then settled it down to our style of play. Of course, a nice bounce off of Gustavsson's elbow helped too. |

I disagree, I think we would beat them in 5 but it would still be a real brutal battle out there, especially if they're losing bad late in any game...cough cough, Sestito, Rinaldo, hartnell.... |

Leafs won't make the playoffs anyways. out of all the teams fighting for a spot, they have the weakest goaltending. Panthers, caps or jets will be the 8th seed, which ever one doesn't win the division imo |

You gotta earn it & it would be a nice notch to go all the way & in the process dethrone the defending champs. No matter what there will come a time of crisis in the playoffs. The Rangers in 94 breezed through rounds 1 & 2 only to be painfully put through the wringer in that epic 7 gm series with the Devils. We had moments, several of them in that series where if we made 1 small mistake, the season was over.
I'm stocking up now on the pepto. |
