Its at the top of the screen. Reads something like:
Is your car as reliable as Bryz in a shootout?

(___) Toyota has __ new cars blah blah.

No 5 hole.

blah blah

You saw a hockey game that lasted 60 minutes. That's what you paid for. I don't get this "I paid good money" excuse. Does the fine print entitle one to bad behavior?
- Flyskippy

That's exactly it...BAD BEHAVIOR. You see it all the time at sporting events.

I liked the way Jagr and Briere looked together in the last game. I also think it was time to throw a little different look at teams (at least experimentally) for a few games. I wasn't wild about how Voracek looked on the Giroux line last game, so may as well try Simmonds (who has been on a scoring tear) for a few games at least. That said, I agree that you lose some playmaking and skill on the top line with two similar wingers on it.
- bmeltzer

Well if Giroux is intent on passing the puck so much, at least put someone on his line that isn't going to try and pass it back.

Yeah cosign. I seem to recall seeing a few looks of Briere w/ Jagr in the preseason that I liked.

This is the sh!t i hate. That ass clown Seravalli "writes" a story with the headline: Bryz not hard to score on?

This because of an anonymous survey done by NHLers doesnt have Bryz in the top 6 of a list of the toughest goalies to score on. Also left of the list are Jonathon Quick with a save% of .934 and a gaa of 1.87, Brian Elliot with his #1's in both save and gaa .940 and 1.56 respectively, and a slew of other top flight goalies... all of which are not hard to score on.

(frank)ing idiot.

I will never forget when Larry Bowa -- not without justification -- profanely ripped the fair-weather nature of Philadelphia fans, saying they are the worst fans in sports and that, for such allegedly knowledgeable fans, knew nothing about the working of a baseball team. That happened in 1980.

Bowa got booed the rest of the regular season. He got booed when he was introduced before Game 1 of the NLCS against the Astros. He got booed before Game 1 of the World Series against Kansas City.

Then Bowa went on to have a great WS and the Phillies won their first championship in 97 years of existence. Suddenly all was forgiven by the same fans who even booed Bowa when he stole a base in a key September game against the Pirates.

When all that heat fell on Jimmy Rollins 32 years later for saying basically the same thing, it was deja vu. Rollins was one of the few Phils position players who had a good playoff series against St. Louis, too.

Lets be honest. Drama sells or attracts the attention of people. Nobody would listen to Seravelli if he writes a story about how Ilya likes to pet animals and gives back to the community hospitals.

Im with you. So stupid.

Morning all,

I've got an interesting Flyers related story from my weekend at a work conference in Quebec City.

Was there with other military people from across Canada.. ran into one of my buddies who is a Detroit fan and knows I'm a Flyers fan. Saturday morning, he says, "I am gonna make your day.. come meet this guy who works at my unit".. I was like WTF? I go over, and meet a fella wearing a name tag which says Read. He says, this is Matt Read's dad.. I was blown away..small world. We got to talking about Matt and how great this year has been..told him congrats. We starting chatting about the team's play osf late, how Matt was being used in games etc.. He could tell that I am a die hard fan. I say to him, I am going to see them on the March 17th game in Boston. He tells me, some of Matt's family are going to that game and that he can ask Matt to sign me in to meet he and some of the players if I want. I was like YOU'D DO THAT FOR ME? He laughed and said it's no issue. Matt likes doing stuff like that. I told him that if it wasn't a bother that it would mean a lot to me and my GF..(more to me LOL). We exchanged info and he said he'll give me the deets to make it happen.

Also, after the Saturday debalce and the Kubina trade, we spoke again and discussed the issues the team was having etc. He said he had been emailing back and forth with Matt all eveing and morning discussing where he is positioned on the PP.. Such a small world. His father seemed to be a genuinely nice man who is soo proud of his son. I think it is so kind of him to offer to help a HUGE fan of the team his son plays for. Any of you who saw me at buzzgate a few years back know that I am still on cloud 9..because I think I may get to meet a few of the players.. I am crazy psyched!!! Pray it all works out.,

PS: happy with the two moves on D Homer made.. but it takes a back seat to this!!!

Lucky Bastard!

I ran into Matt Read's family at the Red Wings Game in Detroit. There were a group of 4 heading into the Joe and they were all wearing Matt Read jersey's. I said to them as we were heading in "Big Matt Read fans eh?" This really pretty lady of the group replies "Yes, these are Matt Read's Parents" with a big smile. I have a certain shyness about not wanting to bother anyone so they can enjoy their game (and their lives LOL) so I I wished them good luck. They thanked me and I walked away.

Some people don't get it though. Maybe I don't push enough but others might push too much. A couple hours before the game I had nothing to do so I headed to the Joe 2 hours early. I found a small group of people in Flyers jersey's waiting for the bus to show. So I waited with them to see the Flyers play. Moments after waiting, Cars and Cars of people showed up looking to get their stuff signed as if it was owed to them. The bus shows up, the players get off the bus and head directly into the Joe (most wearing headphones). Jagr was the only one who looked up and smiled (It was only half the team not the whole team). People took it so personal that they didn't sign anything. They don't seem to understand that we lost the night before and they have to keep their heads into the games.

I guess this is a statement of the difference between myself and some fans. You're very lucky though. If you're lucky to get noticed and get this sort of chance, run with it.

Good Luck to you.

I deal with that every single home game at Lincoln Fin Field. Eagles fans are the worst and by halftime you need a bottle of tylenol. Add all the beer consumption before the game and you can imagine how bad it gets. People go overboard with everything that happens.

Why is that even an option for the clowns writing those ads? Is the NY Daily News printing similar ads with Lundqvist? How bout the Pittsburgh Post Gazette with Fleury? How bout the Tennessean in Nashville with Rinne? and so on and so forth.

My point is Bryzgalov's performance feeds the drama and negativity monster that all these folks thrive on. It's not going to change anytime soon, unless Bryzgalov performs at an elite level.

The drama doesn't attract me. I read the newspaper with the hopes of learning something I don't know. I'm not looking for drama...just news. If a players is a jackass, I'd like to know. I want the truth and I want some insight. I love the stories about players over coming difficult backgrounds and doing charitable things.

Simply put Scott Hartnell is having a very solid season and I understand Laviolette's thinking. Giroux, Simmonds and Hartnell seem to be our most consistent this season, so why not try them together? Big picture, Hartnell and Simmonds do not make sense to me because they do in fact play too similar a style. I have to admit that I'm very disappointed that a Hartnell, Briere and Voracek (In replacement of Ville Leino) was never tested out. With this said, after JvR failed to run with the ball after it was given to him at the start of the season that he's been given very little opportunity after that. It's nobody's fault, anyone he's played with hasn't exactly dominated, Danny Briere for example. Giroux and JvR have had such great chemistry in the past, I think I really would have forced that further then only October. Hartnell has good chemistry with Briere and they've rarely seen each other on the ice this season 5 on 5. When we were fairly healthy up front, Hartnell, Briere and Read have seen a lot of PP ice time together on the second PP unit that was pretty successful. I really think Briere and Hartnell are the way to go at times.

Bryz needs to be better we all know this. I dont think you can ever say "elite level" when mentioning Bryz. The expectations are too high for this goalie imo. He is the next tier below those players, to think he is on the same level as those others is crazy (Lundqvist, Fluery, Rinne).

As Blue Jackets GM Scott Howson looks to rebuild his team, he's prioritizing the acquisition of fast players. "

I heard Brad Jones is available. Those who remember the darkest days of the five years of missing the playoffs will get the reference.

For those who were not around (or born) yet, when the Flyers acquired Jones before the 1991-92 season, Russ Farwell touted the acquisition like he'd just signed the second-coming of Bobby Hull and Doug Jarvis all rolled up into one, saying, "Jones is one of the fastest skaters anywhere in hockey, with excellent hockey sense and a lot of untapped offensive potential."

Jones lasted one season in Philly and wound up a healthy scratch for much of the season. He never played in the NHL again after that season.

It was tested in preseason and early in the season and didnt work well. All 3 had slow starts.

I dont disagree with you. But as a whole people always want to know the drama (info) that is going on in the locker room. They want info about players that they would never get. Thats my thoughts.

So the team targeted the defense, made it bigger, stronger and in my opinion much better (time will tell). From here... what else is there to do before the TDL?

Another depth veteran forward? Backup goalie upgrade?

That's about it right?

If I remember correctly the early season lines were:

Simmonds-Giroux-Jagr
Hartnell-Briere-Voracek
JVR-Talbot-Nodl/Read
Read'Nodl-Couturier-Rinaldo
