For accuracy, Burke was not around when Schenn was drafted.

Sorry, I knew that he became GM in 2008, but it was, as you pointed out, well after the Draft.
Thanks for the clarification.

what is your point.
So does Brian Leetch 80games 16g 72a 88p, nobody is claiming hes on Orr's level

- senstroll

I included leech in the table. The statistical comparison with Orr was done by the broadcast crew (Brown and Potvin). Potvin also said Orr was the greatest D man who ever played the game. He was not saying the kid was Orr but he was saying that the kid is a very special talent. That was a Monday broadcast from Long Island. On the Wednesday broadcast Marc Crawford highlighted a play by the kid and noted that there are very few players in the game who the skills that the kid has. He also said he would take the kid over any Dman coming out of the Doughty draft.

I will take the opinion of Potvin and Crawford over most of the guys here.

You can include whoever you like. Just be aware that you look like a fool doing so. Just like we can include more recent, closer comparisons like Mike Green, and hopefully that won't upset you.

I did include Green in the table. Why is it you have become so averse to dealing with facts and statistical realities. Opinion is fun but sometimes you need to embrace a dose of statistical reality. In hockey the scoreboard matters.

you were quite clearly trying to embellish your claim by using "years" instead of 137 games in the NHL (with Phoenix) to somehow prove he has never been good, and never will be.

Your running out of Senators to run down..............why are you so obsessed with the Senators?? Is it because the leafs are following their familiar routine of starting the season well and rebooting stanley cup dreams in the minds of blue kool aid drinkers, then at the end of the season, they falter and flounder down into the ninth spot in the Conference.

What's it now, 8 losses in the the last nine games???

I suspect this is why you spend so much of your time running down Senator players, because in your warped mind this may somehow help the leafs in some small way.

- Doppleganger

First, I never said NHL games. Second, years is accurate. Nice try.

Are you ready? It's a simple question. Do I need to get simpler for you?

Maybe this might be more along the lines of your capabilities..... Is the sky blue?

Do not discount the importance of my comment at the beginning of the season that Leaf fans will be enraged if the Senator rebuild proves more efficient and successful. Clearly this has happened. What you are seeing from some Leaf fans is the explosive anger coming from the shame they are feeling as the season progresses. I am trying to back off and be less critical of Burke as I know a lot of the fans are hurting.

Your going into your detailing pattern meaning nothing more than your trying to narrow the field of discussion away from ideas you don't feel comfortable in dealing with. It is not an attractive part of your character. You do so much better when you deal with hard realities based on good solid research. I also don't think you can particularly enjoy engaging in narrow discussion of irrelevant side matter. Give yourself a break and get back to discussing substantive matters. I do enjoy your posts when your on your game. I am so disappointed when you waste your talent for no other purpose than being a minor irritant.

Again, you seem intent on disappointing me today. I wish you would suck it up and try harder. We all benefit when you take the time to apply yourself and give some energy to creative opinion.

For example, I really would like know your option on what should be Burke's next move. As you know I think he should stand pat, maybe even do a bit of selling. If he does do a deal I think the focus should be on next year and beyond.

Here's something for you to try to drag the Senators down to where you'd like to see them.
Hope this makes you feel better.

Ottawa's playoff chance are now at 91.9 , while the leafs chances have been plummeting over the eight losses in the past nine games and now sit at 45.8 YIKES!!!

those pics are probably Spatso. You take off that outfit, and there's a Sens jersey underneath.

I watched the game last night and I had really mixed feelings. I thought the Leafs were flying and they outskated the Sharks all night. I also thought they put great pressure on them in the offensive zone. I thought the missing ingrediant was down tight around the net. They really do need a #1 center who can make the pass or control possession in the offensive zone that is intent on driving the net. Sometimes the Leafs look really strong on the cycle but you wonder if they have the pieces that gets the puck on net.

its only 7 losses. 3-6-1 in their last 10. the good thing for them is that florida and washington are stuggling at the same time keeping their playoff hopes alive.

Florida does appear to be teetering on the brink. They played hard enough against Minnesota but they just do not have the horsepower to finish anybody off. When Ottawa came in to Sunrise last week the Panthers could not get any kind of attack going.

they had 44 shots that night. might not of been great scoring chances, but anytime you get that many shots on net its a good thing.

I watched it at the same time as I watched the Leaf game. They were actually skating pretty good and there were lots of shots but they did not seem to be dangerous in the sense of breaking out.
