But is this is the only flaw in a players game, and some people are looking for any little thing to, in their mind, persuade us that this player is NFG, then they'll grasp onto it for dear life.

If your GM selected Luke Schenn 5th overall, and passed on Tyler Myers and Erik Karlsson to do so, then you'd be pissed off, and would bash these other two d men, to try and feel better about selecting Schenn.

I'm not saying Schenn is a bad player, he'd probably make the top four on practically all other teams, but knowing then what we're seeing now, perhaps the leafs would be better off with another player. But it still hurts when the team your obsessed about, is playing better than your own, and you expected your team to be "miles and miles better" in every aspect.

Senator fans know this all to well. Our GM at the time bought into all the Hype around a certain player, and could have selected Chris Pronger instead.

Well it's not. And not being able to play D is a pretty big flaw for a Dman.

Call me crazy, but he's played almost 170 games in the NHL, over 80 in the AHL.

And sucked in most of em.

OK keep grasping i could care less. And if i win i get to see leaf fans such as yourself wonder why they didnt make a pitch on a good young center, but instead probably blow the whole farm on a contract nightmare that is Jeff Carter

Grasping? You said he hasn't played a full season. He's sucked for years. Apparently you haven't noticed, he's played for another organization (where he was not good), for a few years now. How is that grasping? He sucks.

Really important to remember that players like Gretsky and Crosby have led the league in giveaways on a regular basis. Giveaways is the direct result of puck possession. Players who hold the puck and set up plays will always lead the league in giveaways. Players who do not posses the puck can't give it away.
- spatso

There are a lot of players that possess the puck a lot and set up many plays, but do not have many giveaways. It can be a result of being involved in the play a lot, but it's not always true that those with the most giveaways possess the puck more than those with fewer giveaways.

Where's the link, to prove he can't play defence?

Why is Karlsson the teams leader in TOI/G with 25:17 ?? Is the Coach crazy for leaving him on the ice for so long??? Surely they'd be a better team with him inthe minors (like Rundblad) right??

How is it that the Senators have left your leafs barely visible in their rear-view mirror, with this Defensman playing so freaking much?

What excuse can you use now?

Overachieving, lucky, career years, older players propping up the team, hot goaltender, always playing other teams back ups, Spezza's huge paycheques blocking the other teams goaltenders vision, opponents getting the 24 hour flu before the play the Senators, other teams tanking to get better draft picks or something else??

Please explain this to us.

Never mind this trollonto poster.

Turris is just the latest in his bashathon of Senators.

He started with Spezza (huge paycheque) then Michalek ( not a NHL top six forward ), Alfredsson (becasue Bozak outscored him last season), Anderson ( because he's hot and cold) and now it's Turris.

To the original point, it would take an enormous disaster for any team in the NE to finish behind the Sens. Don't stress it, you'll get another good pick.

- prock

No its not. The sens don't measure up with anyone. They'll be fifth barring a disaster of epic proportions by another team. They're the worst in the division at every position.
- prock

And the Leafs have more capable goalies behind them. One of them even outperformed lehner last year.
- prock

Neither of them are a sure thing. I'd personally take my chance on Reimer over taking a chance on Anderson. But each to their own.

- prock

Certainly, it's early, but it appears as though the Sens are as people expected. A roster devoid of very much NHL caliber talent.

- prock

Ottawa is going to be a basement team this year. It's pretty much a sure thing.

And even if it does.... With Reimer in net, the goals against is pretty consistent with what it was last year, to start the season. With him back in net, the Leafs will be able to compensate for a bit of a drop in goal scoring.

Besides, as much as the Leafs have some guys scoring in bunches right now, there are others that haven't completely gotten going yet.

They may not stay where they are. I fully expect them to slip a bit. But not to the basement. Where I expect the Sens to slip to.

- prock

The Sens are still the bottom feeding crap of the division. the Leafs? Miles and miles better.

He played 137 games for the Coyotes. That's hardly translates to "years".

- Doppleganger

Well, first, I said what he's shown Phoenix. I never said in the NHL. He was with the organization for several years.

Second, 2 years.... that's actually "years". Multiple.

Yes of course he's a NHL veteran now that he's up to just over two season's worth of NHL games played at the old age of what 22?
He's a bust, who's only 13 months older than Kadri, who must also be a bust too, right?

@tsn_wally: From Elias: Karlsson has 12 points over his last 5 games, the most for a defenseman since Tomas Kaberle had 12 over 5 games in Oct/Nov 09.

@tsn_wally: Fr Elias: Karlsson has set another team record with his 16th multiple-point game this season, Norm Maciver had 15 in '92-93.

Norm Maciver??? I thought we were comparing him to Orr?

Well perhaps you should take up the cause and write all the commentators who challenged last year's decision. You might want to suggest they use more temperate language in their discussion of the failing of the Norris voting.

Still haven't articulated how the voters are embarrassed.

There has been lots of banter about the kid and questions about just how good he can be.

In his third season Bobbie Orr played 67 games, he finished with 64 points including 21 goals. This was in a high scoring era. If you compare Orr and Karllson over the first three years of their respective careers, I believe that the kid has a small lead in overall point total.

Orr exploded in his fourth year. But, up to that fourth year many questioned his defensive play.

Spezza is having a wonderful year. But the kid is very close to him in being the difference maker for the Senators.

- spatso

actually it was not high scoring..the league just had no parity then..it became high scoring when the Oilers took to the ice for good..u cant be serious comparing this guy to Bobby Orr?????
