he's a +15 so he's scoring at a greater clip than the other team. - sens rock

He has actually looked pretty good. Lots of goalposts, some timing issues, he is going to be very good. - spatso
dude..Ive been saying Turris overrated since he was drafted 3rd overall and all he's done is prove me right thus far. when exactly is he going to "be very good"?

3rd year, but yes. His points per game may end up lower but this is still a more impressive offensive season than Green's 31 goal year. - daeth
even though he may still have some flaws in his defensive game, they don't seem to be nearly as glaring as Green's. The one player Ottawa has that I truly, genuinely, envy them for having.
Erik Karlsson has been rewarded for his record-breaking week.
The Ottawa Senators defenceman was named the NHL's first star of the week Monday after compiling four goals, eight assists and a plus-5 rating in four games.
Tampa Bay Lightning right wing Teddy Purcell took second-star honours, while Dallas Stars goaltender Kari Lehtonen was named the third star.

He's now tied with Henrik Sedin in points and actually has the tie-breaker because he has more goals. Top-5 in NHL scoring.
This late in the season that's pretty damn impressive.
EDIT: Say what you will about whether he deserves the Norris (I have no problem with Weber winning it) but if he keeps this up I think he's gotta be in the running for the third nomination for the Hart Trophy after Malkin and Lundqvist. I mean obviously there are guys like Stamkos and Giroux and Kessel but the Bolts are under-achieving and the Leafs right now are outside of a playoff spot. Philly are probalby right about or just under where they were expected to be but Giroux has really taken on the leadership of that team with Pronger out so he's a very deserving candidate.
But man, the Sens weren't supposed to hit 50 points this season the way people were talking about them. But they've been winning based on their quick offensive system and their ability to get big goals from their top-end guys. Both of those link pretty much directly to Karlsson.
February's stars: Smith, Karlsson, Stamkos http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=619942 Karlsson, the Second Star, is solidifying his resume as a top candidate for the Norris Trophy in just his third season in the League.
Seems the NHL see's him as a "top candidate for the Norris"
By any statistical measure, the Ottawa Senators’ dynamic third-year defenceman, Erik Karlsson, should be the heavy favourite to win the Norris Trophy this season. Karlsson is the reigning player of the week and was chosen by the NHL Thursday as its “second star” for the month of February. Pretty good stuff. Scoring-wise, Karlsson is miles ahead of the defensive pack. His 66 points are 23 more than runner-up Brian Campbell of the Florida Panthers and the defencemen ranked second-to-14th are all bunched up, 13 of them separated by eight points, a list that includes most of the perennial favourites for the award: Duncan Keith (Chicago Blackhawks), Zdeno Chara (Boston Bruins) and Shea Weber (Nashville Predators)
