Like a few others have asked- Why on earth would the Leafs have any interest whatsoever in Oduya? Unless it's Oduya for Komi, and even at that I think I'd still rather have Komi and his bloated contract than Oduya and his slightly less bloated contract. I can't see them giving up ANYTHING else for Oduya.

If Burke were the GM of the Flyers he'd trade Couturier and Schenn for Ryan Malone.

i hope so, carter IS what the leafs need more than nash. smaller dollar amount, 40 goal scorer, center position. only drawback is length of contract and perceived 'don't give a poop' attitude. however, he no longer has a NTC, so if it don't work out, the leafs can hopefully recoup whatever they traded for him...hypothetically

Kessel sets up Lupul and Lupul sets up Kessel, and Bozak is just sorta there. Imagine if Lupul and Kessel could give the puck to another player who can put the puck in the net

I could find as many if not more that work out, so picking out struggling players is irrelevant to the point.

And you are dancing around the fact that star players want long term contracts they want front loaded contracts they want to NMC, so Burke refusing to give because HE doesn't like them is infact selfish.

Finally he's the ONLY who won't give them out, so this maintain preformance stuff is again a useless point, because if he wasn't the GM of the Leafs your opinion on his methods would be different.

I like Burke's stance, and he has still managed to pull in Kessel at 5 years. Some star players will take those contracts. 5 years is a long time, and someone who wants more is probably scared that they wont be able to maintain their worth for the duration of the contract, so they want a safety net just in case. I can stand to not trade for those players if we must.

exactly. grabs is a shoot first player as well, no one has a problem with that. carter is a better goal scorer than grabs (imo).

i don't think having multiple 30-40 goal scorers is a bad thing..hahaha!

and your stache! BB is doing a good job however and I am happy he as not in panic mode. Playoffs this year would be nice, but the process of being in the playoffs on a regular basis is being followed thus far and I prefer it

Not the player (C) i would prefer but he is better option than Nash at this point, and an upgrade over Bozak for sure. Those 3 would be solid together. Contract length is what it is, but the Cap hit for a guy who could get back to scoring 40 is pretty fair.

This team needs another bigtime forward for sure and a vet goalie
