You know, I hear people say over and over that Columbus can get way more at the draft.. but with every shutout loss the Kings suffer the opportunity to totally fleece the greatest GM EVERY DEAN LOMBARDI! becomes greater and greater. In fact, if they lose at Phoenix on Tuesday the bounty they could collect from LA and its dreadful offense could reach epic proportions. Now, as for whether or not CBJ and their equally terrific GM is smart enough to do it.. thats another matter. - CPerryisaterd
why would he trade for LA's garbage?? nash for guys who cant score and a pick |

poop, not even Ryan is available anymore from the sounds of things (if he ever actually was, he's not now). Oh Ek, the lengths he goes to pander to the base. |

The first line makeup is not the problem and that team should have no problem scoring based on their talent. Their issue is that the they depleted their 3rd line to get Richards. Kopitar should be a 100 point player with his talent. Richards should be a 70-75 point guy. Doughty has been terrible and was a distraction. He should be one of the 10 best players in the game if his heart is in it.
Nash is not the solution for the Kings. They need 1 more top 6 and 2 more 3rd liners. They don't need a premier scorer like Nash. They already sold the farm for Richards and look how that went down. If anything deal Richards to Columbus to reunite him with Carter there if Nash comes to L.A. - therealagent
Thats not right. We got rid of simmonds and schenn for richards. Thats not the farm. Just sayin.

Anyone getting all excited for the deadline because of Nash will be disappointed. There's pretty well no reason I see for Columbus not to wait until the offseason. - S Kaspar Rollins
Do we really know that is value will be higher at the draft? I'm not sure if his value will really go up teams close to the cap can take advantage of his prorate cap hit at the deadline. If the same team tries to acquire him in the offseason they may be forced to sacrifice more roster players for the capspace. |

Any King that gets traded anywhere is likely to instantly become a 40 point per year guy. History supports that claim. |

you lost simmonds, schenn who would have played this year in that deal. the other key guy you lost was smyth. i didn't say they were all in the richards deal.
i like the kings. they should be way better. i'll take brown on my team any day. |

The key thing is that there are teams not interested now who may end up interested by the draft for a bunch of reasons. At least that's the main argument. The other is that it's such a momentous decision for Columbus that they want to be absolutely sure
I don't know if his value will be higher or lower, but I don't think the cap hit thing makes that much of a difference, especially when you consider that in the offseason it won't be an issue at all. |

This.
Mike Smith is the same way, his numbers would be a lot worse in Philly too. |

I was being sarcastic. Of course it was Tippetts's system that earned Bryz his fat contract. |

one thing I gave thought to was this...
does burke go after Nabokov or Harding, and make Reimer available to the jackets as part of a package for either Carter or Nash? |

I doubt the Jackets want Reimer. And as much as I would like to see it, I think Burke is too stubborn to go shop for a goaltender who can perform with any amount of consistency.
Reimer and Gustavsson are both decent goaltenders, but they're not the type of guys who are going to steal you any games, especially when playing behind a team who's system appears to be "If we give the other team enough odd man rushes, eventually they'll get confused, and then we can try to score". |

Burke thinks outside of the box on certain things, you really have no idea what he has planned, we kind knew about the kessel deal ahead of time, but were clueless on the phaneuf, and lupul/gardiner deals.... and he isnt afraid to roll the dice.
if a goalie is a criteria for the jackets, I could see Reimer going, since it's been said Scrivans and Rynnas could be better pro's once they are ready, same with Owuya....
it's something minimal number of people have talked about, but has the chance of being a legit option to get a deal done, if there is a deal to be made. |
