Honestly........... no BS......... I don't think there is a roster player that would fit a Vancouver need at the moment.

So two first rounders and a second rounder. That would be a legitimate price.... You would probably have to take Keith Ballard too for the contract and we would take Colton Orr for insurance.

i understand that if just about any other team was in columbus' position, trading nash and carter would make perfect sense. however i question whether they'd rather trade their franchise player who's signed for 6 more years for a couple players that would in all likelihood test free agency as soon as possible. at least with nash there players might want to play in cbus for a chance to be on his line.

if they trade nash and don't end up drafting an elite player in the next couple years, the players/fans lack of interest in the franchise will have it relocated in no time

For a goalie that hasn't started more than 25 games in a season, are you nuts?

Would you guys trade Grabovski for Brassard, I'd say Brassard has a higher ceiling then Grabo, and would probably benefit from a change of scenery and actually getting top line minutes. Also throw Gustavsson in for Mason, Mason has little trade value so it is doable, would definitely benefit from change, and maybe Allaire can help him out. Would be worth the gamble on both acquisitions.

Grabo
Gus
for
Brassard
Mason

Then trade Schenn, Macarthur, Kadri, and a 1st for Bobby Ryan.

Ryan/Brassard/Kessel
Kulemin/Bozak/Lupol
Lombardi/Connolly/Army
Frattin/Steckel/Brown

Phaneuf/Liles
Gardiner/Franson
Gunnarson/Aulie

Mason
Reimer

Put Brassard on the top line between Ryan and Kessel, would give him the potential to be a point per game centerman. Let Mason and Reimer battle it out, worth a shot, couldn't hurt. If we could somehow ship Komisarek out that would be ideal, maybe to the Island included in a deal for Nabokov. Wouldn't hurt to carry 3 goaltenders until one grabs the #1.

Prospects wouldn't help the Leafs make the playoffs right away. Most people were swept away by the Burke speech, and still with no success most are still in awe of it, not being able to see that his tenure with the Leafs have been closer to a failure than a success.

Burke came in wanting to make the Leafs a toughest team and a playoff team neither has happened. He came into a non playoff team and nothing has changed.
- mr.peanut

Lot's has changed..being a hater doesn't allow you to see it. If you cannot look at our prospect pool now compared to when he arrived and see positive changes there is something wrong. Cleaning house of all the dead weight was one chore...rebuilding with youth is another. BB has not been the GM for 6 seasons so not sure why you throw him under the bus for missing the playoffs for that long. Most Leaf fans understood that playoffs were not going to happen for a while, and we are finally seeing a really young team put together.

I don't see Kessel as being a guy that will demand 7-7.5 out of Burke.

I say Kessel will ask for 6 and a long term deal

- cor99

Agreed, and Kessel will get fair market value at the time. based on all the other guys in the 30+ range.

Not at all, but Leafs fans have a habit of overracting (whether it be praise or vitriol) after a one-sided game.

I don't hate Burke, glad you assumed it. And no most Leafs thought Burke GM=Playoffs. His big claim to fame is signing Scott Neidermayer who wanted to play with his brother anyways, and giving the best package for Chris Pronger who wanted to Leave Edmonton anyways. But keep dreaming. Truculence baby!

Elaborate, I don't know about you, but 5M is a bit to high for Grabovski. Take a a look at Brassards stats and the fact he's only 24. He's better then Grabo was at 24.

Mason has better potential then Gustavsson, would you not agree.

If your going to make a smart ass remark, atleast back it up instead of trying to be the cool guy, looking for Lame.

Difference: when Burke took over, we had no prospects, no players to build around, and no playoffs.

Sure we haven't made the playoffs with Burke, but we now have Colborne, Gardiner, Kessel, Lupul, Phaneuf etc etc

This year playoffs are still possible, as Washington who are spiraling out of control, and Winnipeg, who i'm not scared of are the only teams that are able to catch us.

Burke has said he got lucky with those two on many occasions.......

The fact that he built the Vancouver Canucks, and now they seem poised to win the cup....

The fact that he added key pieces to the Anaheim Ducks, and they won the cup (lucky or not)

The fact that we are poised to be making the playoffs for the first time since the lockout, as the NHL's 2nd Youngest Team and cupboards full of prospects, when 4 years ago, we had 0 young talent and 0 prospects.....

Yeah, Burke's a good GM

Lines **Fixed

If they see Brassard as a capable 2nd line C then that deal is doable. But only if they cannot come to terms with Grabo. If BB doesn't want to go north of 4million for Grabs you have to think of moving him

It does mean something.... Were making the playoffs with a young team that will be able to play together for a while.

Were not going out and acquiring old veterans to take the spots and have them leave via FA or retire. Not one Leaf have said they want to leave, and every Leaf, right now, wants to play with each other. It means something......

And considering that a cupboard full of above average prospects, is better than having no prospects.... it's a good thing.

Give me 1 team that has every prospect is a blue-chipper? It's Impossible, we have one of the deepest prospect pool there is...

Again living in the past. It's not about making the playoffs right away. That would have been nice, and BB admitted he thought they were closer when he came in than they were. He and everyone else has moved on and forward since then. Prospects will keep us in the playoffs year after year once we are ready. Getting in this year would be nice, but this team is still being put together, piece by piece. You obviously are not a patient person

How many blue chip prospects do the Leafs have honestly? Take of your blue and white goggles first.

And again this 2nd youngest crap means nothing. Stop it. It only makes your point invalid.
