Never trade high end talent for secondary level pieces, That's what Darryl Sutter did in Calgary.
And that's why Nash makes sense to me and I would move Kane for him in a minute.
And I'd also do Parise, Kessel, Perry, Getzlaf, Hall, Giroux, Myers. But guess what - Kane won't pull any of those players on a 1 for 1 deal. - RickJ
I think Kane easily gets you Parise, Getzlaf or Myers. |

I think one of the resaons Frolik is sitting out is that he is part of any deal the Hawks make.
And when he's toodling on down the road, welcome to Chicago Rusty Olesz. - RickJ
Eh well see. Rusty is exactly where Id thought he'd be this year. |

This is what I mean about Kane getting his worst press right here in sweet home CHicago.
For the record you dont think Buffalo would do Kane for Myers in an instant right now. Like pull Myers out of practice and send him here for tonights game. No need for Kane to pass any physicals. |

The Blackhawks are synonomous with NHL hockey anywhere you go in Canada and Chicago is known as a city that supports their hockey team. Not many wouldn't recognize or say they didn't love the Indianhead jersey. And the Golden Jet had alot to do with that.
Now teams like Phoenix, Anaheim, Columbus, Nashville, Florida, Tampa are a different story - just part of the Bettman legacy. As a Canadian I pretend they don't exist. - RickJ
That's great--I'm not Canadian, and that's been my coping mechanism too. Add Carolina and Dallas to the mix.
Having said that, I now live in Central Florida--and there's a small core of hockey lovers here in the nation's fourth most populous state. Tampa has good attendance, the majority of which comes from Canada and the North I suspect. |

That depends. Prospects, agreed. Got to get NHL roster player(s) back if you deal Kane, but not all impact players light up the score sheet. The Hawks have plenty of offensively talented impact players, the don't have enough impact role players. If you had 12 Patrick Kane's, you'd have 4 lines full of offensively gifted impact players....but your team would still suck. It's about balance. Trade Kane for 3 Andrew Ladd types, or 2 Ladd types plus a solid D-man...would make the TEAM better. Ever hear the saying "better than the sum of it's parts"? That's what a good team is. There's only one puck. You need guys who are gifted at what they can do without the puck as much as you need guys like Kane. Too many impact players can be a negative if they are not complimentary pieces to the overall puzzle with the right kind of impact role players mixed in.
I aways have said I would rather trade Sharp than any other core player, but if you can get what you need by dealing Kane...go or it. But it better work out, or it's going to get ugly. - Ogilthorpe2
But what if one or more of those parts do not play up to their potential? Patrick Kane, for all the criticism, has been remarkably consistent with his year to year production. You can't say the same for guys that are "Ladd-types".

I should have been a little clearer, if they trade Kane an obvious area of need would be a top line scorer. So that would be included in the 3-4 pieces. - furso27
Not to be sarcastic, but as of today if a player they acquired for Kane was in the Top 120 in goals scored, that would be an upgrade. So if you want goals back, even Jiri Tlusty and Cal Clutterbuck qualify. |

Cmon ilinhawk this crtitism is just getting over the top. Its crazy. Every move they made in the last three years is being hindsighted right now. To the point where Jack Skille a guy WE ALL ran out of town is being brought up as a possible BAD MOVE.
If Skille were still here he would have been in Rockford the last two years he'd of been a non-factor. Frolic has contributed much more then Skille would have over the past 130 or so games. Regardless of being a scratch for ONE game |

And what if Jiri Tlusty turns into Michael Frolik and Cal Clutterbuck plays like Bryan Bickell?
My point is I'd rather take my chances with Kane (and whoever else we fill a bottom 6 role with) if that's the best we can get for him. |
