Good. No JVR.

If you think a floater like JVR would make any difference around here, you're mistaken.

The last 3 games I've seen a team that lacks intensity and a willingness to get its hands dirty. JVR doesn't address that one iota.

What you have also seen the past three games is that Reimer is at best a back up goalie

Schenn is at best a number 5 defenseman

Connolly is whining

Reimer is not a starting goalie

There's a glaring hole in your logic here:

Why are you using all of the low points in these guys' careers to determine what they are "at best"?

The Maple Leafs fan base can be downright schizophrenic at times. Calm down and breathe.

How so?

At roughly the same age, Schenn is as good a defenseman as JVR is a forward.

Add in the fact that forwards tend to peak earlier, and I'd actually say Schenn has more upside.

JVR is closer to reaching his maximum potential than Schenn.

Take your rose colored glasses off and then watch Schenn play. He is a younger version of Komi

Not using their low points.... Schenn is the same as he was as a rookie

He has not progressed

Reimer has ALWAYS had a junior A glove side

And JVR is a marginal 2nd/3rd line winger.

Like I said, Schenn is as good a defenseman as JVR is a forward.

1 game proved Scrivens was gonna be the next best thing in net. Remember those times? It was a mexican standoff...Reimer's corner vs Gustavsson's corner vs Scriven's corner. (frank) I wish we can get some consistency...I think that can be agreed on.

How much of his recents struggles can be attributed to a weak glove? Next to none.

He's struggling because he doesn't yet have the confidence to play aggressively and he's having trouble tracking the puck.

The guy suffers a head injury that keeps him out for 2 months and suddenly he's thrown under the bus...

The kid turned in a .927 save percentage last year when he single-handedly carried us to the cusp of the playoffs. He looked fine to begin the year, then got his bell rung.

Fans in Toronto (you included) claim to want a proper rebuild. Those same fans couldn't handle a rebuild because their first reaction is to find a scapegoat and throw him under the bus. It's no wonder it's impossible to develop talent in Toronto; nobody has the patience for it.

he's right tho, its not necessarily a good stat to guage someone on..

sure schenn lays out alot of hits, but he does have a tendancy to throw a hit when he shouldnt at times thus leaving him out of position

a hit can be a bad thing too if it opens a lane for the opposition offense.

this is why it takes time for shutdown d-men to develop.. they need to learn when and when not to play physical.. its a process that comes with maturity imo, and when he is in his mid-twenties he should have a good balance.

EDIT: i should note that i would in no way prefer JVR over him lol

I see.... I didn't realize that was a useful stat

Bet you that Rosehill had the same amount minutes as Schenn he'd be leading the league in hits..... Still think that's a barometer of a players talent???

Just admit that Schenn is a bust

22 years old, he's plus 8 and is on pace for 25-ish points

he still makes a few mistakes but labelling him a bust if flat out absurd
