Not interested in seeing Schenn go unless we get a legit power forward back.
No offense to JVR but he's had two more years in this league than Schenn, and on an offensivly gifted team, he's not made quite the samer progress as Luke.
Luke's taken a lot of heat this year, but is coming around.
If PHI wants a defenseman for the playoffs the best we could do is Komi

I know this deal won't happen because of cap restrictions(among other things) but with liles back, and Aulie and Gardiner pushing for spots, Komi is disposable as Franson came in and stole his spot when Komi's arm broke |

Leafs and Flyers fans...can we both stop being idiots about the value of JVR and Schenn.
It's as simple as this:
JVR - Has not been consistent enough to live up to his hype. Is still feeding off the hype of being taken 2nd overall which is keeping his trade value/price slightly higher then it maybe should be. Ton of potential to be a dominant player if he can learn how to make space for himself on the ice. Higher upside then Schenn.
Schenn - Pretty inconsistent as well, which is to be expected of a 22 year old stay-at-home dman. Anybody that expects more from a 22 year old dman is a fool, and that applies to most Leafs fans who think he should be almost Scott Stevens by now. Has progressed closer to expectations then JVR, but not by much. Drafted 5th overall by the Leafs which is also over-hyping his value because a lot of Leafs fans have this emotional attachment to him as the first real piece of the Leafs rebuild.
In the end, a one for one trade would leave many fans on both sides happy and unhappy, which to me sounds like maybe, just maybe it's a perfectly fair deal. But frankly, given that both teams want pieces that will help their team right now...the trade doesn't make sense for the above reasons...both players are no where near what folks project them to be and will not put either team over their respective humps this year. - Juice
Good assesment but stay at home defensman, there are of plenty in the nhl that are certainly being shopped right now, explaining why this trade isnt going down, Burke is simply at a negotiative disadvantage. |

Komisarek's main value comes from his contract. he has a 4.5M cap hit for the next two years but only is paid 3.5 for the next two years (excluding the current season which is almost done)
For teams striving to meet the floor, there is value. Other than that, not so much. - jarmstrong
I still say Long Island is the logical fit for a number of reasons (namely the fact that he'd likely okay a deal there because he's from there, the Isles have cap room to spare and they'll need veteran presence when guys like Pandolfo and Rolston leave/retire at the end of the season), but I have no clue if there would be any actual interest on their end.

Komi has actually played pretty well this year, and has shown in the past that he can be quite effective if partnered with the right guy (Markov). |

I think there are many places Komi would accept a trade to. I'm sure there are teams that would be willing to give him bigger minutes than he is currently getting, and I'm sure he would like to play more than he is now. |

In his defense, he doesn't get along with Flyers fans cause he puts them in their place for the exact thing he did to some leafs fans here.
They want to over-value their players and he makes fun of them for it. He treats the Leafs fans not all that much different then he treats his Philly comrades. |

And there's no shame in that. I think Orpik is a fine d-man. He's by no means a star, but he's an effective hard-worker and has great chemistry with Letang. - Urethra Franklin
I would love to have Orpik on the Flyers... |

Well when Dreger first reported on the rumor he said (and I quote) "The rumour of week plots Luke Schenn included in a package for van Riemsdyk"
So it looks like the only person that is overvaluing their players is you my friend....but who would of thought that a leafs fan would overvalue one of their players - Jack-Meoff
Read my earlier post where I mentioned the TSN connection to this rumour.
Look, I read here how every Oiler and Philly prospect is worth top stars in the league, but every time someone mentions Toronto Prospects, they are deemed busts. Hodgson, JVR, Couturier, MPS, Omark, Simmonds, B.Schenn may all be stars one day or they could fall to roll players. Same holds true for Kadri, L.Schenn, Colborne from the Leafs, but Leaf fans need to put all of them together to aquire one of the aforementioned prospects. How does that make sense to anyone here? |
