personally I think a good deal would be getting someone to take Komy and adding in Kadri and getting a Ryan Malone or Umberger and maybe a prospect.. bad salary for bad salary - zang100
Bad salary for bad salary is okay as long as you're filling the needs of your team.
The homer in me doesn't want to see the Leafs give up on Kadri yet. I live in London and I'm a Leafs fan, it would hurt me a bit to see him go. |

Yes, if he's willing to take a 3rd rounder for him and if Komi accepts the move. - Juice
Komisarek has played pretty well this year... I think he has gone from untradeable with a combination of poor play and big contract to tradeable with his improved play. If you can trade him to a contender, like, say Detroit (Komisarek would probably waive for a chance to win the Cup), for a draft pick or a mid-level prospect, I say do it... We need the cap space. |

He'll never be a top line player. Expectations were/are high for this kid because of his first round selection status. I think his ceiling is 2nd line/fringe top 6 at best. |

Every time Kadri gets called up, he seems to progressively be getting better than the last time, but if he's what's needed in a package for a player who can markedly help the Leafs, then I'd deal him in a heartbeat.
Same goes for Schenn, but I'm not too enamoured with JVR. If I'm trading Schenn, I'd package him to maximize the value on the return. |

Leaf fans have so far over-rated Schenn. He's big and physical, but has slow feet and gets beat to the outside often.
He won't be a shutdown guy unless he works on his skating and closing the gap. While I would love to see him develop into an Adam Foote, presently he reminds me more of a Hal Gill. |

Dreger says otherwise Ek. - Kinger34
It's like Eklund is just asking for trouble...when he goes against what the TSN insiders say. It's like he's into self mutilation.....I just don't get it. |

He's 22-years-old and still has a helluva way to go in his development. Can he become a top-pairing defenceman? I guess it's possible, but not on his current trajectory. I think he's more talented than a Hal Gill, but I don't know if he'll ever reach Adam Foote territory. For me, I think Schenn turns into a Brooks Orpik-level defenceman at best.

No, not really, they have over $5 million right now, and have quite a few UFAs next year, so Komisarek's contract could probably be worked in there. What you have to consider if you're Detroit is if taking Komisarek's contract for the next few years is worth it for a better shot at the cup. |

No, I understand that. I'm just questioning whether there wouldn't be cheaper defencemen available (perhaps at somewhat higher cost) that wouldn't handcuff as much heading into an offseason where they are likely to lose Nick Lidstrom to retirement (and therefore need to replace him...)
I just don't think the benefits that acquiring Komi would have outweigh the costs for a team like Detroit. |
