Not many of them were expected to be SUPERstars.

Kane, Johnson, Ryan...others were just supposed to be very good possible stars and generally they've been pretty damn close.

They really have no basis for bashing on your team. It effects the Leafs none whatsoever, but when youre team has been as gawd awful as the Leafs for the past 40+ years, they need to find anything possible to pick at.

Indeed.. but at the end of the day, I can root for them over the Rangers or Flyers. We can all agree about that. Some of the best hockey I have ever seen were the good old days of the Leafs and Sens in the playoffs beating the crap out of each other for seven games. Loved it.

General when someone states "don't give away the future"... it means trading away youth for an old guy. Schenn and JVR are the same age, and Schenn has an additional season with about 100 more games played in the NHL.

I wouldn't exactly call JVR a long shot. He is a good player with 15-21 goals / 35-40pts average over the past 2 seasons. Most NHL'ers can't even dream of hitting those type of numbers. His salary is reasonable. The "long shot" piece is whether he can breakout, hit the next level to be a star (not superstar). Schenn is a good defenseman, although I doubt he'll ever be going to an all-star game.

No, you misunderstood. The long shot was the Leafs winning the Cup. JVR is one heck of a player with a bright future. The Leafs have JVF type players, and only one Schenn. I don't think letting Schenn go would be smart. My opinion has NOTHING to do with their talent level, but team need.

I am happy that larger markets like Toronto and Detroit help smaller teams like ours. It doesn't hurt your team at all. Not like you guys are going anywhere if you don't help other teams.

Either way both played junior in Canada and were schooled by canadians..

JVR for Schenn, Kadri and 2nd. That seems fair deal to me.

I can't comment on this...but I do die inside when I see tickets on stubhub.com, the day of sold for $3-$4 for Florida games. It's more of a jealously thing, really.
