Hmmm hits are down time for new blog.

"Something something leafs, something something flyers. . . .MTC."

That should work for 20 plus pages of comments.

Keep trying. His stats are good. He's been exactly as expected. He wasn't signed to make a difference. Leino was..........
- Big_Lightnin

I'm actually pleased with Connoly. He's been what I expected him to be and his term is great. Even if he's overpaid he's easily moved next year, as he'll be in a contract year as a UFA at the end of it.

Chances of Leino actually being in a Sabres sweater til the end of next year is probably less than 25%
- MillerTime1130

Yeah, seriously man...you're stuck with him unless...

a) you buy him out.
b) you bury him.
c) you package him with a good player or good pick to offset his negative value.

Good luck.

Gonna buy him out huh?

Pegula the new Chucky Wang?

Leino is to the Sabres what Versteeg was to the Leafs.

Did the Leafs buy out Versteeg?

2 points in his last 10 games.... How did he not get an award!?

Seriously?.. So Toronto just signs players that they don't expect to make a difference.. they are just a roster fill?? Burke was a gawd I thought??

Well then... The Sabres are undefeated in their last 3 games.. they are 2-0-1 with a victory over a playoff team and really should have beaten NYR last night but Roy missed an open net and Henrik made an insane save on Boyes in the SO..

Hypotheticals are so much fun!

- MillerTime1130

Is a shootout loss part of an undefeated streak in your world? Wow, things are worse in Buffalo than I thought. Though, I've never really enjoyed driving through that part of the world to get somewhere else.

ok, you're one of those, got it.

You tried to prove a point, I had a rebuttal with the words "it's a start" and you reply sarcastically. Thus you're just here to argue and don't actually want to talk hockey.

There is no way that Buffalo buys him out. They are stuck with him.

Sorry but Schenn and Kadri are both under 23 years of age, getting a former 2nd overall pick who hasn't really taken off while playing with so many talented guys around him means it'll take more than a 2nd rounder to get that deal.

The only way you'd hypothetically get both is if we gets Couts too

Schenn
Kadri
-------
Couts
JVR

Not saying I would do this, or that there's any chance it will happen, but I think the assets in this case are fairly similar

- AngryWhiteMale

Wow i really dont even know if i should waste my time responding to this, its just so delusional.....Yea let me trade a player who was the 2nd overall pick and dominated last years playoffs and beginning of the season but has been hampered this year by a hip injury and a player that was suppose to go 2nd in last years draft who just turned 19 and is holding his own on the pk and has earned a spot on a stacked flyers team for 2 players that can't manage to stay in the line up on a leafs team that might not make the playoffs....

Kris Versteeg (at the time): $6 mill./two years left on deal

Ville Leino (now): $27 mill./six years left on deal

A little different, no?

Basically...yes. We had the cap space, needed a warm body and we got one. He'll be gone next year just in time to make a play when good UFA are available and our prospects are ready for the jump. I fail to see how this is a bad thing....

Those 3 games count for 5% of your teams total games this season. Terrible sample size.

The leafs January counts for 25% of our teams total games this season. Enough of a sample size to dictate an acceptable trend.

I think they were bullied as children, or maybe have a raging case of 'little man syndrome'. Or, they're just weiners.
- triggermartin

All of the above...and it's how they make themselves feel like bigger fans of their own team.

They can't express their love for their team by simply talking hockey, they think they need to bash the Leafs in order to fit in. Pretty standard.

I love how 5 maple leaf fans think they know exactly what every other team in the NHL is going to do with their roster... leafs are the only team that is allowed to shake up their team..

Everyone wants to play for the Leafs... I heard they will sign Parise and Getzlaf.. this year they will trade for Perry.. Then I heard Malkin wanted to play for them too.. Can you imagine!!??

in all honesty, i dont see how Philly would do that deal....and i am leafs fan hehe.

Maybe Schenn + 2nd for JVR is more likely. Mind you, if another d-man goes down in Philly and they loose a few games while Schenn pots 2-3 goals between now and the deadline...things can change...

- Ruski

They aren't gonna trade their best young player because one of their D-men get injured this season. It would be the dumbest thing i've ever seen. They could just trade a 2nd round pick for Sarich instead. JVR is gonna be unreal.

If he has a comeback year and puts up 50ish points the sabres could trade him next year.
It's always possible.

The only unmoveable contract out there is Gomez as he will never be able to produce enough to be worth it

Yup, it is a start. Only thing is we weren't talking about the Sabres, you were attempting to bash the leafs and I provided a full months worth of statistic data to at the very least explain why there is strong reason for optimism...your only reply to it was to use a whopping 3 games worth of results for the Sabres.

Has nothing to do with the conversation.

If you're that anxious to talk about the Sabres we can do that, but don't ignore valid points by simply switching the conversation.

Once the Islanders re-hire Mad Mike Milbury as GM.
