Apparently it's being widely speculated the cap will go down next year...

This makes resigning Grabovski even harder.

My point is that Grabo should not have been even thinking of the net in that situation. A simple chipped puck into the Pens zone, and the game is over. This is the stuff you learn, and is drilled into your head beginning at the age of 8 or 9. There is just no excuse for that play.

ok fine. Crucify the guy for wanting to get his first NHL hatrick, on his birthday, in a contract year.

Again, he could just as easily have healed the clearing attempt as well.

He could have had the Natural Hat-Trick, but elected to pass it to Kulemin on the 2-on-0.

Why is this being speculated....The cap has gone up every year since inception of the cap....why this year is it going down?

It doesn't make sense how it can be that high,

He's so gruff and almost dim. You'd expect some grunts...

Really, that's what you have to say?

Even IF that was true, at-least he is in the NHL.
Ow ya, i think he would be 3rd or fourth in overall scoring on the Leafs.
Has anyone heard from Prock?????????????????????????????????????

- Whiskey-Tango

He's has 3 more points than Bozak in 9 more games played....at least Hodgson has that going for him.

NHL wants to roll back revenue split from 57% to something closer to 50.

Sounds like we could see a 2-4 Million dollar drop on the cap because of it.

That goal was automatic if it hadn't hit a bump in the ice. If he'd kept it and not scored, people would be calling him selfish.

Oh I'm sure he grunts too, but when he tries to yell his voice goes up an octive or 2. you can always here him yelling "Wheel Wheel" and it sounds like a 14 year old

Thanks for the explanation. Now left wondering why a healthier revenue split would cause cap to go down

Right you are... Point I am making is he is not selfish. He had his stick checked on the clear in the 3rd. If he cared that much about the hatty, he would have never passed to Kulemin.

A few things really bothered me about last night's debacle:

1) Gus completely spit the bit. The goalie had a chance to help shut that game down when his team got a little wobbly, and he failed. He whiffed on Sullivan's goal, and didn't look particularly good on the 3rd goal either. Sorry to say, but the Leafs' goaltending is still a huge question mark.

2) Schenn made a huge mistake on the third goal. That should not have a been a sucker pass to Bozak with the defenceman holding the blueline, but a backhand off the glass and out of the zone. These are the plays that win you, or in this case, lose you hockey games.

2) Grabo played an excellent game overall, no question. But with about 20 seconds left, he had the puck at his own blueline, and what does he do? He tries for the hat trick, which instead ends up being literally a pass straight to their d-man. At that point, I was on the couch going, yup, here we go....yup. Again, that should have been a dump, up over the defencemans head, or a chip, just into the Pen's zone. Game over.

It's these repeated Pee Wee errors that bother me the most.

Schenn is the worst of all the Leafs D men at clearing the puck. He has hands of cement.

They are both plus 3 players. So saying Kulemin is amazing defensively and such a complete player still doesn't translate into the statistics.

Kulemin never has really impressed me.
Even when he scored his 30 goals, most times it seemed he would either score to pad the lead when the game was over or would get a goal when the other team was up 4 or 5 goals. Personally I don't feel he'll ever be a difference maker and Kadri has that potential

- Sheppy99

Then this conversation is going nowhere. You like flash, I like substance.

This team will never EVER win anything without at least twice as many Kulemins as Kadris (or Kessels, or Ovechkins... whatever you want).

He wasn't clearing the puck, he was passing to Bozak and Bozak lifted his head (ill-advised pass though)...

So Wilson makes his team take the morning skate after last night's collapse. But no sign of the coach. Interesting move.

Will there be a scale-back of existing contracts?

The cap is franked...cap goes down in a year of reported all time highs in league profits, after raising 36% from five years ago. They couldn't have anticipated the slippery slope and froze the cap this year?
