Wouldn't it be octennial? - Atomic Wedgie
Has it been that long? Time flies.
Still, a lock-out twice a decade seems about right. My guess is that the next agreement brings about 5 years of peace, then they're right back at it again.
It's a team game... so he is not the reason... but he was a big componant for the late 3rd period fall. Dude, he had more than enough time to get balanced and shoot from the middle of his stick with authority. If he was talented enough that's an easy goal. When you're like "what the heck was that" it's usually pretty accurate. Just like the first goal, Lupul's interference
Also Grabbo's stick was checked... he was just trying to float it deep. Just not deep enough but it wasn't a big neutral zone turnover that created a horrible odd man rush. - HipHopisDead
If you really need a goat for this one, Look to Gustavson hot-dogging on the 3rd goal. Open and shut case - ruined an otherwise solid performance from the whole team.
I couldn't agree more with you. I think he's used to playing at high scpeed and he gets that compliment from playing Kule and Grabo but Connolly can't really match his speed and intensity so makes Kadri look out of place. I say if they move Mac then bring Kadri back and put him on the line with Grabo and Kule then we can finally start to see the intensity of this kid. - TML4Life85
Thanks.
Sometimes I wonder what they're thinking.. you see a couple of shifts where Kadri and Grabbo create some havoc or Grabbo and Kessel but they hardly ever play them together again.

That's exactly it. He's not 100% certain on what he needs to do, and because of that his feet are not planted...once anybody over 6 feet tall and 200+lbs gives him a shove, it throws him right off and with a second shove he's on his ass trying to make a last second attempt at swatting at the puck with his stick.
He plays a lot along the boards and in the corners, and that's great, but if he can't take the beating he's going to receive; then he's got some work to do. Cause when he's not getting shoved around, he usually comes out with the puck...but if this was the playoffs, he'd just be a rag doll on skates.
It sucks, I really wanted him to stay this time, but this...to me, was the most obvious weakness in his game vs. any other time he's been sent down. - Juice
To me, Kadri is still 2 years away. Doesn't look comfortable in his own skin most of the time.
Problem is though, in his first training camp he looked cool as a cucumber and very in control of his play. Maybe not making the team back then made him rethink how he has to play, I don't know.
Last year, when leading after two periods of play the Leafs were 25-0-4
This year 18-0-1 (Last night's game included, the first time they did it BTW)
That was not an issue last or this year. - PTVinnyMac
That stat is a bit misleading though. There were many occasions when they would obtain a lead in the 3rd and then still lose the game. whether they were tied or behind at intermission, it wouldn't count in that stat, but it happened a lot.
I'm going to go on a limb and say either Gardiner or Schenn. - Domaju
I would say Gardiner or Gunnarsson. I like Gunnar's general game, but too many turnovers caused by him whiffing on a slapshot/one-timer, then a generally poor effort to recover from said errors.

A few things really bothered me about last night's debacle:
1) Gus completely spit the bit. The goalie had a chance to help shut that game down when his team got a little wobbly, and he failed. He whiffed on Sullivan's goal, and didn't look particularly good on the 3rd goal either. Sorry to say, but the Leafs' goaltending is still a huge question mark.
2) Schenn made a huge mistake on the third goal. That should not have a been a sucker pass to Bozak with the defenceman holding the blueline, but a backhand off the glass and out of the zone. These are the plays that win you, or in this case, lose you hockey games.
2) Grabo played an excellent game overall, no question. But with about 20 seconds left, he had the puck at his own blueline, and what does he do? He tries for the hat trick, which instead ends up being literally a pass straight to their d-man. At that point, I was on the couch going, yup, here we go....yup. Again, that should have been a dump, up over the defencemans head, or a chip, just into the Pen's zone. Game over.
It's these repeated Pee Wee errors that bother me the most. - triggermartin

And people need to stop thinking there's something wrong with that.
It sucks that he's not an NHL'er right now, but anybody who's watched him enough knows that he's easily got the talent to be an effective NHL'er...but in order to be able to use that talent he needs to learn hw to hang on to the puck and handle grown men shoving him around.
Thing is...do they wait for him to be ready still...or trade him for someone who is (obviously he'd only be part of a package)?

Well, going into a third period tied hardly gurantees any team a win tho, wouldn't you agree?
I mean, if you're discussing a scenario in which a team should win, one would tend to believe that leading after two periods of play is in favor of the team with the lead.
A tie after two periods favors no one and is any of the two teams game.
Why is this being speculated....The cap has gone up every year since inception of the cap....why this year is it going down? - iLive4theLeafs
It doesn't make sense to have the cap go down. It was designed to go up every year and not the other way. Might as well introduce higher cap and luxury tax then if they are going to go up and down with it.

I'm thinking Gardiner but might be wrong it could be Schenn or Komi but Gardiner seems more likely. - TML4Life85
I thought Gardiner was great last night (aside from the speed wobble). Not sure what RW will do ...gotta think it'll be Schenn, Franson or Komisarek though.
