I was pissed when the coach chose Kadri for the shoot out....he was invisible all game...and he gets rewarded with a shoot out chance? How about MacArthur or Lupul coach? - iLive4theLeafs
They practice shoot-outs.
Coaches take note of who does the best.
Those guys are the ones who get to take the shots.

It's really funny how some fans would rather a world where Paajarvi/Hodgson/Kadri etc. are ALL busts as soon as they don't have a 100 point first year than a world where everyone gives their own prospects and each other's a break. Kadri will be fine. |

Hodgson was groomed perfectly, Kadri needs to go through the same process...finishing the year in the ahl won't hurt. - Barx
There's been rumblings that Kadri's attitude is getting worse and worse every time he gets sent down to the Marlies and especially after potting 4 or 5 goals since being called up and his reward is another demotion......... I can't imagine it's improving.
Hopefully it makes him stronger mentally and he doens't turn into a kyle turris |

Yeah, I don't get the "rewarding a player with a chance to shoot" mentality. At that point, one player makes the difference between win and loss. So you pick the player most likely to give you a win. |

A few things really bothered me about last night's debacle:
1) Gus completely spit the bit. The goalie had a chance to help shut that game down when his team got a little wobbly, and he failed. He whiffed on Sullivan's goal, and didn't look particularly good on the 3rd goal either. Sorry to say, but the Leafs' goaltending is still a huge question mark.
2) Schenn made a huge mistake on the third goal. That should not have a been a sucker pass to Bozak with the defenceman holding the blueline, but a backhand off the glass and out of the zone. These are the plays that win you, or in this case, lose you hockey games.
2) Grabo played an excellent game overall, no question. But with about 20 seconds left, he had the puck at his own blueline, and what does he do? He tries for the hat trick, which instead ends up being literally a pass straight to their d-man. At that point, I was on the couch going, yup, here we go....yup. Again, that should have been a dump, up over the defencemans head, or a chip, just into the Pen's zone. Game over.
It's these repeated Pee Wee errors that bother me the most.

Don't read too much into it.
They were the only guys on the roster who didn't have to clear waivers. - Atomic Wedgie
And, conveniently they were the only two guys on the roster who need to be sent down. Kadri just does not fit in a third-line role like Army does. Aulie is just the odd man out.
Kadri should stay down and Frattin should be given the next chance with the big club if this situation presents itself again. Frattin has shown flashes of power-forward that the Leafs need sorely.

Not sure if you're being sarcastic
But this time, it really became obvious that he's not strong enough yet to be effective in the NHL. He gets pushed off the puck quite easily and falls far too often.
Should build up some leg strength and work on protecting the puck with his body and that would make a huge difference in his game. - Juice
It's frustrating that Kadri is still so soft on the puck and light on his skates.
The kid can flat out hit. He's added bulk and a bit of a mean streak, so why can't he show a little more strength (or maybe just determination) on the puck?
I wouldn't have minded seeing him on Grabo's wing for a decent stretch of games. Let's be honest: neither Mac nor Kulemin are doing much to earn that spot themselves. With the exception of last night, that line has been mostly invisible (and even last night was more the Grabovski show than anything). |

Those rumblings only come from posters on the internet who don't know a goddam thing, so I wouldn't read too much into it.
Last night was a game were it was clear Kadri was close (good physical presence, couple offensive chances) but still has plenty of work to do (repeatedly muscled off puck).
He can work out all he wants, he won't be physically mature for another year or 2. |

judging by the shootout outcome, somebody needs to go back to math class.
coaches go with your gut instinct.
....after being benched, kadri's confidence/train of thought couldn't have been in a good place. |

Boyce, Rosehill, Crabb, Gardiner.....
EDIT: maybe not Crabb - Big_Lightnin
Boyce - isn't he on IR? (would have to clear)
Rosehill - would have to clear
Crabb - would have to clear
Gardiner - better than Aulie |

yeah, but a guy who is playing so poorly he is benched, shouldn't be 'that guy'....and obviously it wasn't. |

How do you think Grabovski gets the puck?
Hint - Kulemin takes it and gives it to him. |

what the hell game were you watching? a debacle???
the Leafs game was the farthest thing from a debacle. they played a fantastic, dominating game for 3/4 of it......their youth and inexperience came into play and they just couldn't close the door this time. |

Given Reimer's 5-on-5 stats, paired with the Leafs improved discipline, starting Reimer is the best roster move we could possibly make, in my opinion.
Thought on yesterdays game from the cup-half-full point of view: They got a point and are now alone in 8th place. Sure teams below them have games at hand, but those teams are still chasing. Also, teams in front of the Leafs are pretty unsteady right now. |

Boyce slated as Day to Day, don't think he's on IR, though he had to clear waivers earlier when sent down, so ya guess he's over.
Thought Crabb was still exempt for some reason... just on recallible I guess. |

I don't mind rotating the young kids up and down - have one of Kadri, Frattin and Colborne up at one time.
Gives 'em something to work for. |

but when you have just as many goals as kulemin playing 1/3 of the amount of games with 2/3 the ice time kule gets per game. That's gotta be a kick in the ol nuts to get sent down again. |
