I do like that Schenn did try to show some offensive flair last night despite a costly defensive mistake.
The one move he made on Fleury and then missed an almost empty net would have been a beauty.
Never would have expected Schenn to make that kind of play.

We are trying to solve all of the Leafs' problems here, and get them to win the Stanley Cup.
That task is made much harder when people like you derail the thread with unimportant topics like weather, wine and bacon.
So please, I must ask: stay on topic.
What we are doing here is really, really, really important.
Thank you. - Atomic Wedgie

I wouldn't mind seeing what he can do. The problem is that there is very little I would give up for him. I hope Burke is looking elsewhere. - GoneFullRetard
For JVR...I'd offer Gunnarsson and a 2nd rounder....wouldn't be enough to land him, so, no deal. |

We're gonna be missing some hockey next year, I think.
The NHLPA is ready for a fight. The owners are insane if they think they'll get their uncontested way again this time. They screwed it up last time when they had the the union over a barrel.
If the NHL is forced to cancel another season, what does that do to the half-dozen markets who are already getting beat up by the recession?
This one could get ugly. Especially with a guy like Fehr in charge. - Leeman4Gilmour
uh, what exactly was uncontested last time? The players gave up a whole season, I would say that was some contesting.
Fehr is not worse than Goodenow and I don't think the players will let another whole season go.
The owners, under Bettman, will win this battle every time.

Good thing Burkie didn't trade Franson earlier this year. Pretty important piece right now.

You keep it that way and move those struggling team because there's no need for other team to be paying other teams' salaries. This league ownership crap should end now.I say keep the cap at $80mill, not going up and not going down and let the team battle it out with respect to whom they sign. Also cut down on these longterm deals. Anything that was signed for more than 6 years should be nulified and renegotiated so teams aren't tied up due to another GM's mistakes. Put the cap at $80Mill, contract no longer than 5 with a 6th year team option and if small market teams aren't making it (Phoneix,Columbus ect) then move them to places where people care about hockey. - TML4Life85
This is the easiest way to avoid cap Circumvention. No idea why they didn't see that's the way it would go. Then you can still average a guy out but giving him a raise in years 3-4 or something, but no more shaving 4 Mil in cap hit by dropping it down to minimum |

Schenn has 1 move a year that leads to a beauty of a goal, See Schenn vs Bruins team of 2011 video for confirmation. |

Dare I say it would have given the Leafs a 3-0 lead and the win but yeah they blew a 3 goal lead in the 3rd so who knows.

The owners win the battle every time, and then lose the war.
Every CBA has been an attempt to protect themselves from themselves.
And it fails every time. |

Neither did Fleury And Schenn almost shelved it too, that woulda been sweet. He could have had 2 last night. |

It actually helps them out.
If you are losing money, ceasing operations for a year doesn't seem so scary. - Atomic Wedgie
... exactly why the owners will win. There are more Phoenix's and New Jersey's, who won't be sad to see a season lost, than there are Toronto's, who would have been fine without a cap in the first place. |

That one, the 2 on 0, the disallowed goal, Lombardi's failure to raise the puck... We're looking at a 7 or 8 goal game last night hahahaha... |

Finger's contract is off the books come end of June. Komisarek, if not moved previously will be the captain of the Marlies. Lombardi likely bought out of the last year... or effectively option to another team for a 7th rounder or underachieving minor league contract. To date BB hasn't had to make these type of decisions... he would have had he not made the Phaneuf trade. Now unless he can move some of the overpriced talent... he'll have to.
Not signing Grabovski for something in the range of 4.5 per year would be just unfair. THe guy seems to want to stay, seems to be liked by the teammates, works hard most if not all nights... heck... take Connolly's money and give it to Grabo. Tell TimC to have a career ending injury IR time out.
How much did they roll back salaries after the lockout? - BorjeFan4Ever
1) I'm glad that comes to an end so there's money to spend
2) Move Connolly, I know someone will bite and even if we get a 4th rounder I'd take it
3)Sign Grabovski to what he deserves, he's worth 5 mill to and I don't think he'll refuse 4.5 mill since he likes being here and works his tail off.
4) Persue a 1st line centre and move Mac, promote Kadri to Grabo line and watch him learn how to work his tail off (Kule and Grab attitudes will rub on him)
5) Find a goalie (no offense to Reimer or Gusty but these guys aren't elite and can't hold the leads and shutdown the other team when they need to)
6) Don't give Wilson an extension, fire him if we don't make the playoffs and bring Eakins up. |

What would you guys give up for Jeff Carter?
I would think that contract alone would hurt some of the return that Columbus would get if he had a more reasonable contract like Kovalchuk's. |

Leafs can win many games if they fine tune their finishing touch. They can easily score 3-4 goals a game but need to find a way to shutdown other teams when they have a 3 goal lead and not let up offensively. If Kessel was awake and alert, he could have had a hat trick last night but he looked disinterested. I wonder why and he's so predictable, either toe drag or come's off the boards and always shoots glove side. Needs to tune his approach. |

Grabo to me is an absolutely certifiable 2nd line center.
He can create a spark and even take the game over with scoring. May not be 1st line material on a game to game basis but definitely way higher than 3rd line material.
