remember all the people on here in Sept/Oct saying Blake Kessel should be in the top 6

Sorry, just remembered that.

I still stand firm on that belief.

It's nothing short of a travesty.

my response: defense wins championships.

Going back to 1967 there have only been two guys who won a Norris Trophy never win a Stanley Cup in their careers. Teams that have the best dmen win, and win a lot.

Keep saying these names to yourself over and over again.

Claude Giroux, James van Reimsdyk, Brayden Schenn and Sean Couturier.

Our future couldn't be more bright and many are looking to trade 50 percent of this (JvR and Schenn). Add in such names as Matt Read, Wayne Simmonds, Jake Voracek, Sergei Bobrovsky and Erik Gustafsson and we're in even better shape.

Yea, for the best defenseman in the NHL.

Was Doug Wilson one? Not sure if he won one. I know he had a great year and was considered.

Lidstrom and Chara are the league's best. It's as simply as watching Nashville closely and waiting them out. If any dominoes are expected to fall, they'll start with Suter.

I remember when Chara couldn't skate over the blueline without tripping on it.

I frankly disagree. Weber will win the Norris this year IMO.

It would be stupid of me to debate you. He's only leading his team in scoring.

Yeah it is. I was curious to see how many guys who were top dmen in the NHL never won a cup, and the answer was just as I suspected, almost none of them.

Bobo may be the wildcard in that group depending on who's asking and what's offered. Especially after Breezy gets his game face back.
- 77rams

You are insane if you trade Bob right now. Do you really trust Bryz enough to bring back up Leighton?

so some asinine nhl power rankings has the pens ahead of the flyers. i think that's crap, so what if they've won a few in a row. we've won both meetings, are ahead in the standing and have been more consistent. i know those things don't mean jack, but that irks me. it's called research.

I don't see why the Flyers need to replace Pronger 100% right now. I think the D is fine for this season. Add a Gill or Grossman and let's role. I think the D men signing this week made Gills price a 2nd instead of a 3rd. But that will get us through. Now next year and going forward with Timmonen? Let's let things shake out over summer before we trade the farm.
- coffee junkie

No way am I trading a 2nd for a Gill rental. The team just isnt a Gill away from seriously contending. So why waste it.

Nevermind that, I wouldn't even rule out Bobrovsky starting playoff games this year.

mike gartner scored over 700 goals and never won a cup. in fact, he was traded during the 93-94 season, which of course is the year the rags broke their 54 year curse. tough break.

hextall is also high up on the list for number of wins without a cup. beezer was another. gee, what a surprise.

apples and oranges, i know...but just sayin'.

It still really pisses me off that Chris Pronger wasn't nominated for the Norris his first season as a Flyer. Keith and Doughty were well deserving of their nominations and Keith did deserve to win but Pronger deserved that 3rd nomination over Mike Green. The one year the NHL decides to go young and forget about Lidstrom.

Yep. A lot of great players never get to a hoist the Cup. Gartner standing out above everyone there.
