If you assume the Flyers re-sign Jagr close to what he was at this season then it becomes interesting.

Looking at the cap numbers quickly and assuming the Flyers keep a few guys out of Harry Z, Sestito, Rinaldo, Holmstrom..

It seems to perhaps come down to roughly keeping Carle or Voracek.

Out of all people, its a little shocking, but I'd rather have the help on D.

I'm not sold on re-signing Jagr at this point. Depends on how the rest of the season plays out with him.

I may be alone in saying this but I actually dont think the Flyers should sign Jagr in the offseason unless he takes equal/less money.

I'm not giving a 40 year old forward 3.5-4.0 not a chance. It looks to me like he starting to break down. Constantly leaving games early is getting annoying.

It would depend on that for sure.

Just as Plind said with his health.

Assuming they make the playoffs thats where I make my decision. If he can keep up then, and handle the physicality then give him another one year.

I totally agree with you. I dont know if I would be willing to even sign him unless he takes less money. His health is a serious concern and hes not getting any younger.

Flyers medical staff are no miracle workers. I dont like them and say what you will but this team has had a poop load of groin injuries over the past few seasons. I wonder if they even stretch before games.

At the same time, while it could be Jagr's age.. He hasnt played in the faster NHL for a while. He may need time to adjust again. He imo has rushed back every time and may need a bit more than a few weeks off and be good to go again.

In reality i think his age is catching up to him but Im being optimistic. Praying Kimmo doesnt hit the same wall any time soon.

Yep. There are a bunch of useful forwards in the 3.0-4.0 range that will be available. If Jagr lights it up in the second half and remains healthy the entire time I would consider it, but I do not see either of those things happening.

Stretching? Nah, they don't do any of that. Unbelievable that the Flyers Medical staff hasn't recommended stretching to the players.

I made a point in another post on how Jagr said he hadn't missed a game in 7 years, and now all of a sudden he's in and out of the lineup. It's quite simple, his original groin injury never healed due to him trying to come back too quick. The guy is near the end of his career and every game is paramount to him.

Jagr hasnt played an NHL game in years prior to this season. He is being asked to play more games in a more physical league on a consistent basis then the KHL.

No question about it. His three years with the Rags he played 82 games a year. But Jagr was ages 33-35 when he played in NY. He's two weeks away from being 40 years old.

It's going to be a complicated summer. It seems the Flyers do have interest in Ryan Suter but to me Suter is the perfect replacement for a guy like Kimmo Timonen and not Chris Pronger. Shea Weber in my mind is the perfect Chris Pronger replacement. Suter isn't the physical presence Pronger and Weber are and that is what we need. If Carle isn't re-signed I have to assume the Flyers are going after one of Suter or Weber. I can't help but feel Carle will be sorely missed if the Flyers do go after one of these big timer Dmen.

I see that myself (frank).

At 17-20 I could go out every night, sleep 4 hours and do it all again.

21 and wrinkles starting.. I look forward to the nights where I can get to sleep early.

Not stretching is a bit of a reach, but I have zero faith in the Flyers trainers/medical team.

I dont know if they can replace a Pronger but it wouldnt hurt to add a physical defenseman to this team during the offseason.

Every team would love Shea Weber. If he was a UFA I would make a serious run at him, trading for him is a whole different animal. The type of assets it would take to acquire him would leave gaping holes in other areas.

I'd like a do-over starting when I was 28.
