I don't believe Coburn's offensive numbers have gone south because he doesn't have an offensive touch but more so because he's not placed in offensive situations. We've only recently seen Couturier's offensive touch because he was only being put in defensive situations and playing with less talented players. If Coburn were a regular on the PP, I have no doubt in my mind his offensive numbers would be much better. I for one happen to think he has a decent shot from the point. Couturier has seem to found a really balanced 2 way game playing with Simmonds and Read.

Of course his offensive numbers would be better if he got more PP time. That would be the same for any defenseman. But there's a reason why he isn't used on the PP much in the past 3 Seasons.

Possible? Maybe, but unlikely. I think he's found his NHL niche.

Nice to see that Juan is coming back. I expect big things out of that defense next year.

Please don't expect anything. Philly teams do not do well when high expectations are set.

Of course there is. We brought in players who may or may not be better in that area but it's all about decision making. JvR has spent a year now play the right point on the Power Play but he isn't any good at it. Meszaros is more then capable of playing the point of the PP, especially because he's a shooting machine. I don't feel there is very many excuses as to why JvR should be placed in that position.

What is the goal? To be much improved, or to win the Super Bowl? We've been there done that being much improved, making the playoffs, etc. There is only one acceptable outcome next Season. Lombardi Trophy or bust. You heard the owner!

We all know that JVR has struggled there. They are trying to develop him there for the future. Hasn't shown a lot of promise, other then just having a hard shot.

i find it odd that a reasonable man like yourself would jump to a conclusions like this.

if they brought in Spagnoulo it would still be much improved... no guarantee of a super bowl

Juan Castillo is Spanish for Jim Johnson. I believe JJ's last game with the Eagles was in the desert when the defense was cut to ribbons by the juggernaut Arizona Cardinals.

I don't know if JvR is worried about being hit with a puck but one would think that he should be looking to get stronger down low, in the corners and in the other team's crease (or atleast around it).

It's not at all a conclusion. Do you think bringing back Castillo was the right move? Was it a good move to put him in that spot in the first place? Did you even read the article? Who would they have a better chance to win the Super Bowl with at DC? Spagnuolo or Castillo? Reid hasn't been worth a dam since Johnson unfortunately left us.

Good point. With these coaches that are getting hired now Greg Schiano, Joe Philbin, etc.... the Eagles were wise to keep Reid.

Jagr said he will decide if he’s ready to return after Tuesday’s morning skate.

“I just want to play every day,” he said. “I just wish that I would be injury-free and I could play every game, but for some reason it doesn’t happen this season. I’m not used to it.

The last seven years, I didn’t miss one game. Maybe I’m not good to deal with that. Maybe I’m too impatient.”

I'm totally shocked that Jagr hasn't missed a game the last seven years, he puts a Flyers sweater on, and he's had 4 groin pulls in half a season. Stunning.

Sure it was the right move to bring him back. One of the main problems was the disarray with the short offseason and having a another new DC. Now with Juan back, there will be stability and guys wont have to learn a new system again.
