haha No. I was thinking that 29 other teams would swoop in and get Briere.

The information regarding Crosby with his neck was shocking to me. Sounds like there is a fair amount of ineptitude going on with the medical team there.

Tim Gleason has a full no-trade clause in first two years of his four-year deal.

Gleason rumors can be officially put to bed. Thank god. Guy isn't that good.

- PLindbergh31

I disagree he isn't that good. And this news is NOT good for the Flyers. Yes, I too am happy we aren't overpaying for him but that is one less D man on the market. All other D men's values just went up. Supply and demand.

I still think you can find a GM that has to opposite need as the Flyers do, and can work out a mutually beneficial deal. So far the closest is Toronto. We need defense that will last us a while, they need a power forward.

I would also put Nashville in that Club. They need offense, and have excess defenseman. Maybe if they arent moving Suter or Weber they can move Ellis or Blum...

Or maybe you go to LA, again, a team that has Defense, but needs offense. Maybe you get Jack Johnson for Voracek...

The options are out there. You dont have to necessarily match a seller to a buyer team to get a deal done. You just have to have the opposite needs. IMO the Flyers need to find a match with a team that either needs Offense or Goaltending, and get a Defenseman back in the deal...

The possibility of a value for value trade is out there, and certainly possible. I'm not saying don't make a deal, I'm saying don't overpay for a UFA or a 4th/5th defenseman

Boychuk could be the poster child for that if he hits market. SC winner. Young and physical defenseman, good size decent mobility...
- Jsaquella

Definitely. I would like the Flyers in on Boychuk if he hits FA. I like his game.

Then the Flyers should simply stand pat. Much better to stand pat than to overpay for a third pair defenseman that might not be any better than what is on hand.

I'd rather stand pat than pay Ferrari prices for a Camaro

It's not bad news for the Flyers at all. I'm actually hoping they keep all their picks and stand pat. No one they trade for is replacing Pronger, so overpaying for a guy who isn't a difference maker would actually be the worst case scenario.

We are on the same page here. However, I doubt Homer is. He is going for a D man, maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think so.

What if the Camero is a tricked out SS or Z28 and the Ferrari is just a Fiero in disguise?

I'm the same way if I sleep in. I only do it once a month or so. I'm sure most players take a pre-game nap after lunch. No more than an hour though I think. They (whoever they is) say that 20-30 mins is optimum for most folks.
- rockychocbill

I need 8-10 hours of sleep a night. If I don't get it I'm in trouble--sluggish, headache, grumpalosaurus. I don't know how I'd deal with their travel disruptions.

How do you find time to work, and have any social life if your sleeping 10 hours a night?

The worst thing for the Flyers will be if they trade JVR for L. Schenn. If that happens mark my words it will go down as a trade that will live in infamy.

Or you realize you're extremely fortunate to play a game for a living for millions of dollars a year. I don't feel bad for him at all.
- funmaster18

Exacly, millions of people are working jobs they hate every single day... FOR MUCH MUCH LESS. Which is why I decided to accumulate debt and go back to school. I understand it sucked for Carter, but holy crap, grow up man. Guess the girls at THE Ohio State didn't live up to his standards.

You're like my wife. I'm good with 6.5 - 7 hours. More than that and I start feeling sluggish.

Hopefully Burke moves on because of the JVR injury and deals Schenn for someone else. I will rest easy if that happens.

If it takes $4.5mm or so to add Boychuck, I;d rather keep Carle @ $5mm
- Jsaquella

My prediction is.. Carle signs for clost to 6mil somewhere... and reverts back to the way he was in Tampa.

If there is another part coming back to the Flyers it would likely be ancillary. The core of the deal would essentially be JVR for Schenn.

Well then the Flyers wont be trading with Toronto. There is noway Homer deals JvR for Schenn (straight up). That would be like re-upping Castillo as DC for the Eagles.
