In fact, not one player on the Stanley Cup-winning team had been there when Dudley arrived in Chicago – they completely rebuilt the ENTIRE TEAM. When the Blackhawks won the Cup, every single player dressed, except Nick Boynton, was a holdover from Tallon and Dudley.... the entire team the night Chicago won the Cup – was acquired by Dudley/Tallon.
Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook, Dustin Byfuglien and Adam Burish were all drafted during the Mike Smith era in Chicago. |

In Chicago, he served as the architect under Dale Tallon, and was big in drafting a Buffalo area kid he knew well in Patrick Kane number 1 over Turris and van Riemsdyk. It looks like a slam dunk in hindsight, but I was at that draft and many were questioning if Kane was big enough to be the #1 pick....right up to until the final seconds.. He was instrumental in drafting Toews over Backstrom as well.. He then stole Patrick Sharp from the Flyers for the infamous Matt Ellison, and somehow managed to get Versteeg and Havlat for a song....he also signed Niemi...
Im so confused... didn't dudley join the hawks in the summer of '06? Sharp was acquired at the end of 2005.... he actually joined after the havlat trade too.
There is about 6 or 7 guys from the stanley cup winning team that were either drafted or played some games before Dudley even stepped foot in the blackhawks office. |

ya they had it so hard with all those top overall picks - wingz4life
Yup, it was a trilogy. How many teams that have that scenario don't ever get close, let alone stay close after a championship. |

The only ones who believe that, arm dance to Chelsea Dagger, wave the W flag and wear green Hawk jerseys. - Topher
Take a look at how many cup-winning players came to the 'Hawks (more than half) under those 2 guys then get back to me. |
