Even back then he was looking right over that guy's shoulder! He only played in 5 games for the Wings in his entire career and somehow he made it into the team picture. He was media savvy back then too.

Is that guy next to him number 21? If so that's Danny Grant. Pretty interesting guy. Cup winner, Calder winner, 12th player to ever score 50.

Perhaps more interesting, Grant is one of only 4 players ever to have won the Stanley Cup before winning the Calder Trophy*. He won the Cup in 68 with the Habs, but played only 22 regular season games and and 10 playoff games. He was then traded to the North Stars in 1969 for his first full NHL season and won the Calder with them. In '74 he was traded to the Wings, placed on Marcel Dionne's line, and promptly potted his 50. I would imagine Stars fans at the time were pissed.

Anyway, if that is Grant in the pic, then clearly they were not lined up by ability for the photo.

*The other three were Gaye Stewart, Tony Esposito, and Ken Dryden. It actually happened three years in a row if you can believe that. Grand did it with the '68 Cup and the '69 Calder. Esposito did it with the '69 Cup and the '70 Calder. Dryden did it with the '70 Cup and the '71 Calder. It hasn't happened since.

Stewart was the first to do it in '42 & '43. Grant and Esposito are the only two to do it with different teams.

Nashville is stupid for playing their back up who barely plays against the Rangers.

Boston gets shut out by the worst team in the east, that allowed the most goals in the league. That's a head scratchier.

Islanders shutout Washington. Wow.

Dallas loses, which is one step closer to Sheldon Souray getting traded here. We could use that rocket shot and physical snarl he has going in his game.

Pretty awesome that we have 9 possible 20 goal scorers in line up. Giroux, Hartnell, Jagr, Briere, Read, Simmonds, JvR, Talbot and Couturier. Don't get upset that I didn't name Voracek, I don't think he has a shot. JvR might be losing his chance at making that mark as well.

Could be the same person. Both named Bob. Maybe it's Bobby Mac's alt?

- BringBack25

Not for nothing but incarcerated bob slaughters most of the competition. He was first with Carter and Columbus, 1st with Peyton Manning being out for the year. He had Pujols not going back to Cards first. He had Brian Schottenheimer of the Jets canned 2 weeks before major media. He's been impressive. He's not saying it's done, but the Leafs are reviewing JVR's medical records. He also said other pieces could be going both ways.. not just from Flyers.

You know it was a good game for the Flyers when Shelley plays over 9 minutes with nearly minute on the PP.

A lot of fun to skim through these sort of stats from time to time. I had no idea Read lead the team in takeaways. Also, Schenn has 37 hits in 16 games played... a pretty nice ratio if you ask me.

How in the World did the Flyers manage to win that game playing a player short, and at a disadvantage to the other team?
