Panotch was on DNL last night and pretty much said the same thing. He said that they would be giving Bryz every opportunity to play himself out of the slump he is in.

Im all for it and think it is the right call. We need to get him right.

- MBFlyerfan

Yeah, I am glad they are approaching it this way and have told the media as much so there's no fodder for them to feed a controversy. I hope the fans @ home stay positive as well. I prefer not to see a decent goal scored tonight where he had no chance result in a rain of boos.

I wouldn't trade that much. Wait until July 1st. I don't like trading for rights.

After playing 20 of their last 29 games on the road, the Philadelphia Flyers (26-13-4) now begin a stretch that will the club play nine of the next twelve games -- including three of the next four leading into next week's All-Star break -- at the Wells Fargo Center.

Wow I had no idea they have played that many road games recently

- funmaster18

the flyers played the least amount of home games in the leauge up to this point

JVR is faking his concussion to avoid being traded. Didn't you know?

Also, the Flyers did not know that Bryzgalov liked to talk to the media.....took them completely off guard.

- MBFlyerfan

And according to WIP this morning, it was shocking to them that Pronger has been in seclusion. They asked why he would be doing that. Gee, I guess because of that severe concussion he's dealing with. I can't believe he doesn't want to talk to Tim the empty pot stirrer while he's having symptoms!

It'll get better after the trade deadline
- eayost

See JVR is smarter than Carter or Richards. If they wanted to stay, they could have faked a concussion too. Richards, "I got into a fight at a bar in center city, or south street and got hit in the head." Carter, "I got donkey punched in the head via a weird sex act down in Avalon..."

You mean you don't like getting handcuffed into a long, expensive deals because the player has your hands tied?

Well every game is a road game for me, not sure what the Flyers have to complain about. I deal with the Jack Edwards, Steigerweirdo and Bobby Taylor's on a nightly basis.

I think I might be in the running for Selke.

He did it with Timonen, Hartnell, Bryz, and technically with Pronger since they resigned him right away. All of those ended up being long term expensive deals. When you trade for a player's rights, it gives more leverage to the player because they know you want to get a deal done so you didn't waste your assets to get them.

i was reading online someone from the edmonton journal said the flyers could trade schenn mab and a 1st to land suter if thats the package we better be getting weber lol
- griouxmvp2012

I would say that better be for Weber too, unless that first is a conditional pick on whether he resigns or not.

Pronger still had a full season left on his contract so I wouldnt include him, but they did it for Hamhuis and that one didnt turn out so well.

While I was lurking recently, I saw someone, not sure who, saying the Flyers need to make it a place the opposition doesn't want to come play. Having a lot of games there coming up gives them a chance to start that trend.

Most of all I want to see more cohesion between the goalies and the defense. If Bryz is going to get a chance to get a couple games coming up, time for him to stand tall and steal a couple games. That would be huge for him and the team.

But they wouldn't have traded for Pronger without extending him and I believe that was the plan the whole time when they traded for him, so I do place it within the same criteria as trading for his rights. It may not be tit for tat, but it's pretty similar and now he has a golden contract. If the Flyers had won in 2010 though, no one would care about how many years he'd have to be rathje'd.

They're still looking. I don't think they indented to trade JvR unless somebody paid a premium price for him anyway.
- Jsaquella

according to bob mckenzie last night on nhllive there was nothing serious between the flyers and leafs regarding the rumored deal of jvr for schenn. just talk. and that the flyers would command more in return than just schenn.

Still disagree about the Pronger thing because he had a full year left, and if he didn't want to sign they still had plenty of time to trade him, very different then getting someone's rights, but your right, they traded him with the full intention of resigning him long term, and wouldn't have made the trade if that wasn't the case.

How didn't it turn our well? They turned Pylon Parent into a third round pick as a net result.
