My other guess might be considered inappropriate...

Ek was pushing a rumor that the Preds were on the cusp of making a deal and centered it on Lindback who was in Milwaukee. We know he was in Milwaukee to get some playing time ... Eklund must have thought he was down for showcasing. Said deal never materialized (surprise!!)

Regarding Blum, I agree he may be desired by Anaheim as he is a SoCal kid but I stand by my statement ...

Not to argue, but Blum can't even crack our lineup right now ... you think ANA would settle for Blum and Watson? They'd ask for Ellis/Josi and Smith/Wilson and our 1st.

But to be honest ... none of us really have a clue We're all speculating.

(Creasy also has mentioned we are in on Ryan ... who knows?)

At this rate, I don't see much movement of Weber or Suter until the offseason (unless something terrible happens). Those guys are too important to a playoff run, and I think the playoff revenue is more important. We will get solid returns for them whenever dealt. But, if we are a playoff team, and still vying for the division, who's to say we don't send some prospects and high draft picks (I'd venture to say we can spare a couple) and possibly a younger rostered player in exchange for one of those Islanders...

Agree with you here. It is better to keep Suter for the stretch run/playoffs than to give him up at the deadline, even if you know he is not going to sign. You would not get anything at this point that will help for playoffs because he is a UFA. You would get picks or prospects. I really think any trade you would make would almost be pointless. Unless you get a superstar forward (why would a team trade a Superstar forward for a UFA?), there is probably not a deal worth doing. It is probably better to keep him.

With all of that said, I still think a trade will be made, just not one involving Weber/Suter. Preds have a lot of picks for the draft and some young talents to deal.

The rumor of Anaheim scouting Blum & Suter came from the Ducks beat writer. It's been all over hfboards. Much better rumors there and actually somewhat believeable.

Agreed.

(Btw, my reply to wings-suck to which you responded was done to give both you and whyme78 credit for your earlier comments on the Blum possibilities that, as you and others have said, have come from a variety of rumor sources.)
