At this rate, I don't see much movement of Weber or Suter until the offseason (unless something terrible happens). Those guys are too important to a playoff run, and I think the playoff revenue is more important. We will get solid returns for them whenever dealt. But, if we are a playoff team, and still vying for the division, who's to say we don't send some prospects and high draft picks (I'd venture to say we can spare a couple) and possibly a younger rostered player in exchange for one of those Islanders...

Agree with you here. It is better to keep Suter for the stretch run/playoffs than to give him up at the deadline, even if you know he is not going to sign. You would not get anything at this point that will help for playoffs because he is a UFA. You would get picks or prospects. I really think any trade you would make would almost be pointless. Unless you get a superstar forward (why would a team trade a Superstar forward for a UFA?), there is probably not a deal worth doing. It is probably better to keep him.
With all of that said, I still think a trade will be made, just not one involving Weber/Suter. Preds have a lot of picks for the draft and some young talents to deal.
