Serious or are you (frank)ing around?

J.P. was also quoted as saying: “He's overly loyal, and he's not going to rush into anything. He's always loved the New Jersey Devils. He's been extremely loyal to the organization, to his teammates. But this is business now.”

He's awful, worse than Jeff Carter.
- Xcavate

Yeah, I agree. The guy wants to be a New York superstar. Jersey is holding him back. Any team who wants to trade for him is retarded.

It's sickening. The day of the humble, loyal, and honest sports player is gone.

Move em, move em now. We could restock and re-engage as one of the young up and comers, with the likes of Henrique, Larsson and JJ already in for the long hall. Keeping him allows us to remain a non-cup competing bubble team. Parise isn't a game breaker. Love him as a player, love him more as trade bait. Make it happen Uncle Lou. No place in this business for silly loyalties.

He should make no more than 7.5 mil a year and if there isnt a deal done by the deadline pull the trigger.... He is too good of a player for us not to get anything in return.

I disagree completely. I don't agree on the trade him no matter what idea.

I agree that if it comes down to trade deadline without a deal, we trade to re-stock. If we do trade, I want a player like T.J. Oshie+offensive defenseman and a first. Not that the Blues would do this, but something like, T.J Oshie, Shattenkirk, and a first, hell, that deal I would be fine with a second.

Or it could be something like J. Johnson, one of their better forward prospects and a first/second

If he stays, we're not contenders. If we lose him for nothing, we're not contenders. Moving him at the TD, minimizes the return. LL should not play chicken with this situation. We have a chance to rake in a boat load of assets. NJ made their decision on the left side, and Kovy was their man. Stand by your decision and move the odd man out for the benefit of the remainder of the team.

He shouldn't get more than $6.5 million in my opinion. $7 at max.

I agree. Only gets 7 for a 4 or 5 year deal. He isn't that good, im sorry guys. This isn't Pavel Datsyuk.

The way the league is it is too much of a risk putting that many years and that much money into one player. Zach has to see that his style of play (around the net) is more dangerous than other players and a contract of more than 7 years is too much of a risk. Personally I think he should get the same exact amount as Kovalchuk and for 5 years.

I think Parise is the engine of our team and I have no problem with both him and Kovalchuk leading our troops into battle every game. In the future, Parise, Kovy and Volchenkov should have the C and As. We'll need a good 2nd line LW too. So I have no problem keeping Parise. I have no problem with Henrique, Zajac, and Josefson being our centers down the middle. Henrique is a ROOKIE this year.. he'll only get better! We'll have Larsson, Merrill and Volchenkov as studs on D.. and potential dmen in Urbom, Gelinas and Burlon.

Its the right side that needs some help. idk about Teddy, Clarkson and Palms on the right.. hopefully we land a good RW in this year's draft.

and we can only hope 1 of our 3 G prospects pan out. In the meantime we'll probably go after a Lindback or Ellis to share the load. Maybe Hedberg comes back to split time again?

point is, we have assets at center now (thank you Henrique), we have LW depth, and we have mediocre RWs. We have some good D prospects in Larsson, Merrill and most likely 1 of Urbom, Gelinas, Burlon will pan out. And we have G. So as far as getting a lot of 'pieces'.. we don't need pieces. We NEED another stud on D.. and we have the pieces and picks to get him.

YES, I think we should go after Suter- but I don't think we should trade Parise.
If we'd stinkin split up Parise-Kovy and roll
Parise-Henrique-Zubrus
Kovalchuk-Elias-Sykora
Tedenby-Zajac-Clarkson
Carter-Josefson-Janssen/Palms

Volchenkov-Suter
Tallinder-Larsson
Salvador-Greene
.. i'm sure we'll see increased production from all 6.. instead of just Parise-Henrique-Kovy on some nights, and Sykora-Elias-Zubrus on other nights. Both line combos work well, but I think we'll get even more out of this option.

thats a well balanced offense- especially with a healthy Zajac keeping Teddy on track!.. and a healthy Josefson who can give our 4th line some substance and stability so we're not always getting scored on. That defense is a solid, contending defense. Fayne isn't bad, Foster isn't bad, Tao isn't bad.. but Suter is VERY good. He's an upgrade over all of those 3. If we have to send one of Fayne, Urbom, Tao the other way- then FINE! Suter isn't 35 on his last leg, he has a lot of hockey left in him.. and by the time his new contract (with us) is done, we'll have a whole new crop of D in the system.. Merrill will have some years in the NHL under his belt.. Larsson will be an absolute stud.. we'll be fine.

Fayne + Palmieri + 1st for Suter. If we have to give up Tedenby or Josefson.. fine. We need a Suter in our top 4. We NEED a top pairing dman to give Volchenkov a top partner and give us an ACTUAL TOP DEFENSE TANDEM.

oi. no one will read that.

Marty is so inconsistent. He was great last game. Downright awful on both goals. Good move to pull him.
