I'd give anything to remember Lindros playing in his prime with the O&B...I was only like 5...

And then I'd give everything to be alive to see Bernie....

Only the lord saves more....

I am downright giddy at the thought of seeing 88 in orange and black again!.

Same here. I love seeing some of his highlights. Especially the ones where he just totally destroys a player with body checks. It was like a man among boys sometimes.

He seems as excited as most of the fans are. It's a great first step to seeing his number hanging next to Bernie, Barry, Billy, Bobby and Howe.

Hall or no Hall, Eric Lindros is the best Flyer without a Cup. It has to happen. He's the reson why I'm a Flyers fan today.

EDIT

If the debate continues to be endless on whether or not Lindros should be in the Hall, there is no question he should hang in the rafters. He was everything a Flyer should be...when he played.

So he got tickets or was the talk the other day that he was looking for them was a joke?
- ob18

He was joking that he wanted to sit up in the Owner's box where it was warm. It is my understanding that he is planning to be there.

I agree with Clarke. Lindros should be in the HOF.

I like that the criteria is HHOF to get your number in the rafters.

Me too. He was/is the reason I am as big a hockey fan as I am. I was always a Flyers fan, but it wasn't until Lindros that Hockey became my #1 sport.

Question.

Could the Pittsburgh Penguins have as loyal fans without Mario Lemieux and Sidney Crosby? Cups side could they really? I mean the Pens were crap along time in between time without these players and frankly, I didn't find them too interesting. I ask this because Lindros and the Legion of Doom are a thing of the past. The Broad Street Bullies are gone. With this said, the Flyers remain competitive season after season no matter who's playing, and the fans remain loyal.

Thoughts?

Lindros did that for a lot of folks. I had animosity, with how he left, but it's long gone now. I'm happy to see the bridge that looked burned being rebuilt.

I do too. There wasn't and probably still isn't a player who could do what he did on every area of the game. When he crushed a player into the boards, the entire rink shook. Players were afraid to play the Broad Street Bullies, and players were afraid to match up against Lindros alone. Even when Lindros was a shell of his former self, I watched him toss around Joe Thornton like nothing.

Honestly, I doubt it.

There has never been any question about the future of the Flyers in Philadelphia. They have had the same guy in charge from day one, and have never been rumored to be moving or had to go to the city or state with their hat in their hands asking for a new building.

That said, the Flyers had a lot of success, and have never had the issues that the Pens faced with some of their owners. The Pens were poorly run and any early successes were always tempered with a lack of identity.

After the Lemieux era, and after Jagr, the team was in such disarray financially that it's understandable that a lot of fans turned away. I mean, how do you sustain a fan base when you trade a future HOFer in the prime of his career for 3 or 4 AHLers, like they did with Jagr. Or trade an allstar, like Kovalev was, for pennies on the dollar.

Yet they still somehow managed to draft 4 of probably the top 100 players in the history of the game (time will tell with Malkin + Crosby).

Well, they had top 5 picks for 5 straight years, which definitely helped.

Craig Patrick was an excellent GM, he just never really had the financial resources behind him.
