Awesome read Bill, Thank you!!

Like you, I'm looking forward to the introductions probably more so than the game itself, It's awesome to see a roster of players from all era's in Flyers history, (it seems a little odd though to have guys in there 60's playing with guys in there 40's), but I can't wait, it's going to be an awesome weekend!!

I hope Versus doesn't screw us out of the introductions.

Question:
how many readers here have to work on Monday? I know the NHL is trying to avoid competition with the nfl on Sunday but the majority of ppl I know go back to work on Monday, making a 1pm game impossible to watch.

- flyguy12

I don't know anyone but my Starbucks peeps who are working. BUt I know my boss's kids have school Monday.

Vs has gone to a full hour pregame so I think you'll get the whole shebang.

Wow, I never thought about that, that would really suck!!

Versus, the network that's good for not telling you who's dressed & who's scratched during a game, (I hate that, as that's something you get used to watching the comcast telecast)

At least it's not NBC, they would cut us short to show a domino tournament

Bill, you could add Brad McCrimmon to the departed. I'm glad they are honoring him with a patch today.

Reading that list, particularly Roger Nielson and Dmitri Tertyshny, brought tears to my eyes.

I remember huddling by my radio listening to 610 as the Lindros saga unfolded and Larry Bertuzzi awarded him to the Flyers.

Went to his first game ever as a Flyer (preseason vs. Quebec) and his first regular season game (vs. Devils)

He was such a big part of my teenage years I am so glad he is back in the Flyers fold.

Great write up Bill, I did not know he was 3rd in PPG as a Flyer! He truly is one of the greats, and sadly had a great career cut short by concussions.

I would really like to see the intros today too, can't wait.

Does anyone know where you can find a list of the players that are Flyers property? As in, the young prospects they have in their system and where they play and all of that?

A link would be great!

EDIT: NVM found it on the Flyers website.

However, is there anywhere to find out where they are playing right now?

I was going to wear it to tailgate with phi1671, but I woke up with a tummy bug. So I guess I'm glad I didn't break down and buy tix the other day. And it still fits as it did. I was fat then, too.

wear the Lindros shirt with pride whenever you get to wear it

So with the reconciliation between the Flyers and Eric Lindros....

Does #88 make its way to the rafters in the near future?

I have a feeling it does. It has to. He built the building it would be hanging in.

If you go to www.hockeydb.com and type in the names of the players you will see what team they are on and up to date stats.

That seems like a lot of work lol

I was hoping for a list of them with where they play. Maybe one day I'll create a spreadsheet and do the research to have it in place.

With the way these young players stormed onto the scene this year in Philly, it's got me intrigued with prospects and I think it would be fun to keep an eye on them.

I am so excited for this game, I wish I could actually be there. I'm still looking for a place to watch this thing because I'm sure I won't blink for a second. Hopefully this one is a lot more exciting then the Heritage Classic's Edmonton/Montreal Game. I believe Marty McSorley scored the only goal.

I was just reminded in Bill's blog that Howe's number will be retired. Most have pushed for Hextall's 27 to be retired but if the Big E is expecting a stand ovation and has finally got on good terms with the club, there is no doubt in my mind that 88 must be retired. If Bill can introduce his name over Clarke's, that's all anyone really needs to know.

Everything certainly was Sunny in Philadelphia when Nielson was Coaching Lindros. I think after that things got a little out of control. My favourite games to watch were Lindros' Flyers going head to head with Yzerman's Wings.

Lindros' number has to be retired. I think the only thing holding the process back was the fact that both sides parted on bad terms.

gotta be honest, i think this will be fun to watch, but mostly for the commentary and highlights/memories they show. the game itself will be like a slow motion version of the all star game.

You think it is completely out of the question that they shock the world with a surprise retiring of his jersey today?

I'm big on surprises... if I was in charge that is the move i'd make. With everyone there, the huge crowd, the spotlight... I guess I have a flare for the dramatic!

Doubt it happens but would love to see it. No better stage to do it

Only if he makes it to the HHoF (except for Ashbee, who is a special case, they'll never retire a jersey who isn't in the HHoF). But he should be in the Flyers HoF.
