Those 3 or 4 misses are what turned Filatov from a once promising prospect, to one with a value of a third rounder. Kadri has to start putting points on the board if he's going to continue being lax on the defensive side of the game.

holding out in Columbus and refusing to play in the AHL had a bit to do with that as well...

thats the thing, neil saw grabovski flying up so he leaned into him and hit him, Gbov didnt have the puck.

it was similar to the Crosby cheapshot in the winter classic.

- big_dion

How did you like the Wilson interview, where he said "Gbov" was the toughest guy on the team?

Grabby didn't have the puck. He was breaking for the neutral zone while his d-man was looking for an outlet.

I thought it was a dirty hit, but what can ya do. I'm sure Rosie or Brown will introduce themselves to Niel next game.

- AnnGee44

i thought he did have the puck, coming away from the boards skating towards the blueline, guess my memory has failed me again lol

thanks for the correction

I'm pretty sure Grabo didn't have the puck. Which is why they said it looked like incidental contact and they can't suspend for it.

It happens. I think, what happened was Neil was anticipating the d-man to pass the puck to Grabby, and it would have been a little more understandable, but the pass didn't come, and it looked unnecessarily dirty and cheap.

I have to disagree with him. It looks like Boyce is the toughest guy right now. He missed ONE shift after breaking his nose.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Grabovski did not have the puck at all, and had not touched it for quite some time before the hit.

And, again, I'm not necessarily disagreeing with the intent of these suspensions in eliminating dirty hits. But now Shanny has set a standard and he's committed himself to holding fast to that standard.

I do hope he has the guts to continue to stick to his guns, but's he's gone all in, and now he has to keep it up. If Neil doesn't get anything, then it shows his resolve is already cracking.

- Leeman4Gilmour

nope you are right, for some reason i thought the defense had passed it up to him at the blueline, i just checked the reply and i was way wrong.. the defense (I believe it was Phaneuf but I cant make out the number from the video) held onto the puck and was skating it out

But this is exactly what I'm saying too!

All I'm saying is they are under different microscopes. People are expecting more from Kadri, but for the most part he has had a good camp. He was certainly better last night than Connolly had been yet, and that was Kessel's best game as well.

- Big_Lightnin

Hey I want so badly for Kadri to make it, but deserve it. Again I still have faith.

He's getting better each game, I think, but still has some rust to knock off.

Grabby is like the inflatable clown. You can hit him multiple times, as hard as you can, but he keeps coming back lol

I think it's almost time to retire the Tucker pics and use a Gbov one for your avatar.

no he didnt, i was wrong 100%

and judging the replay, neil was trying to hit someone else and grabo actually skated into him

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lno7clSS2J0

the angle where you see neil's back shows clearly that grabo wasnt even in his sights

I'll call it a tie. They can fight about it, but they have to break their wrists first, then fight. That's how you know who's the toughest.

the first angle shows pretty clearly he lunged at him. He initially might not have been going after Grabo, but once he saw Grabo was there and had his head down, he gave it the old "accidental on purpose" collision.

pretty perfect shoulder check for a guy who "never saw him" as Neil suggests...

Even still, if he hit the guy he WAS going for, it still should have been an interference call..which, there wasn't ANY call on the play if I'm not mistaken.

Fair enough. But after reviewing it a few times, there seem to be a few tell-tale signs that it was intentional.

First, you can see Neil turning his skate towards Grabovski to clip him as he goes by. Secondly, Neil's elbows start to rise to make contact before Grabovski collides with him.

As much I as like Shanny's idea of making videos to explain suspensions, he really ought to make a few to explain why such-and-such was NOT suspendable.
