Ironic comment given you provided no proof of your statement.

Decision making is coachable.......

only to a certain degree. hockey sense at a high level is something you either have or you don't. otherwise every team would have a Lidstrom.

How is Shultz such a better prospect now?

The funny thing is, Shultz' stats shot-up once he was paired with Gardiner, yet you're convinced it was him that helped Gardiner, and not the other way around.

- RogerRoeper

How is Schultz better? Uh hello, defensive player of the year as a SOPHMORE. Gardiner produced NO offense until it was Justin Schultz padding his stats.

Theres a reason SCHULTZ won that award, and Gardiner never did.

As is your statement.....

Yes, Gardiner sure is better than the best dman in Finland, the best dman in NCAA, and guys already playing and contributing to a playoff team in the NHL, rofl.

Is Gardiner going to even play a single pro game this year?

Yet Gardiner is ranked by everyone as better.

And again, Shultz stats weren't the same the previous year without Gardiner.

And Gustavsson was the best goalie in Europe. Doesn't mean as much as you're claiming.

Why is Gardiner ranked so high by EVERYONE?

Great signing by Burke.

Remember Fabian Brunnstrom? Point is, it doesn't always mean success translates to the NHl level.

He has played one season of 68 games and another of only 8. And his stats weren't anything to brag about. -11 on the Ducks?

Hardly puts him above the potential of Gardiner.

Whoa. He wasn't consistently the best goalie in Switzerland. So to try to claim he was the best in all of Europe for many years is a stretch.

Allaire really developed him into a good NHL goalie, I won't deny that, but you really shouldn't make stuff up like that.

No. We know why. They needed someone to take a $4m salary that the made the mistake of not insuring for a player they didn't think will play. Its not like edmonton can afford it. Anybody that knows hockey knows this. By asking the question you did you've only confirmed to everyone that you are totally clueless.

You might be better off posting less and reading more.

- prock

You really think they would give away a top young player for someone to take Lombardi and his 3.5 (not 4) million dollar salary off their hands? He is pretty much healthy right now too isn't he?

And for the record, the oilers would have no problem doing it financially. And we needed D man, ever wonder why we didn't "beat" your ridiculous offer?

Ironically, how often do people tell you to stop posting? Seems like a regular occurrence on here.

Yes. They don't have any money. Go read the news. Not doing that would likely mean getting rid of another player in the same salary range, and weakening their team.

He is healthy now. He wasn't expected to be. Seriously, if you would just start reading, you would know these things.

The Oilers didn't though. They're full of junk D, but still didn't.

Go talk to some Preds fans. They're not too happy about it. Go READ what they have to say.

Tell me? Not often. Tell you? Pretty frequently. You need to READ more. It would really help you sound less foolish. Just a suggestion. You can continue to sound like a fool if you want though.

Jeez, you just had another Oiler fan say he could be your number 2 dman. But, of course, you don't think that's worthwhile..... LOL.

Do you really think a bank teller would be able to screw around and post on a hockey site all day?

Maybe you need to think, as well as read some more.

You clearly need help from someone.

I think the point is that Burke definitely pounced on a good deal, but he didn't orchestrate some amazing unique solution when all the other GMs hands were tied. It's a great pickup. I'm not arguing that. I'm just saying that it's not one that any other GM would (and especially COULD) have done.

Oh, I realize it's a deal that most GMs couldn't do. I said as much.
