Kulemin > Kostitsyn.

No, not at all. Why the (frank) would anybody trade for Gomez?

Cap floor is the only possible reason.

"Kostitsyn would be a great fit in Toronto. For a European, he has a bit of an edge and he also can put up points. I would love to see the Leafs offer up Kulemin for him. Although Kulemin had a breakout 30 goal season, he is too soft, much like Alex Semin. Kulemin for Kostitsyn would greatly help the chances of the Leafs making it into the playoffs. However, Kostitsyn is not American (no offence to the USA) or injury-prone, so Burke most likely has no interest in acquiring him. "

Exactly. You can argue Kostitsyn would do better without the pressure, but Toronto isn't going to solve that problem.

I couldn't even see that. Though they did have that bone head trade this summer.

Florida took Campbell, albeit Campbell is less of a liability than Gomez. But he doesn't fall that far from the tree Gomez is in.

$5.8M owed per season for next 3 seasons with a $7.3M cap hit.

savings of $4.5M over three seasons. not bad for a team that can't afford the floor.

What moron would say that crap? Kulemin is not soft, by any stretch of the imagination. He's built like a truck, and hits like a freight train. There is not a chance in hell Kulemin would ever get traded for Kostitsyn.

Actually it's 7.5, 5.5 and 4.5 in the next 3 years

So this year is useless, I don't see anyone taking him for cap floor reasons, but maybe in one of the next two years.

i'm taking the averages. 17.5 over the next 3 years = 5.8 average salary owed versus 7.3M AAV cap hit.

Fair enough, the Bulk of the saving is in the last 2 years though was all I was trying to point out. Seems pointless to take him this summer, he won't be any less available next summer by any stretch of the imagination.

i totally agree that his contract will be more valuable next summer for sure. perhaps mtl is leveraging that to get rid of him now, freeing cap for a deadline deal etc.

just wanted to point out that gomez isn't as "un-tradeable" as some would have you believe.

These types of deals get talked about as much as the fabled offer sheets.

he is a funny one, he is going to georgetown and still hasnt been able to provide any answer as to why he stated brad richards is overrated and i ll even add overpaid for at least a month min

the answers i have go
originally it was overpaid but wouldnt explain
then it was: he just, is (with comma)

today he upgraded to asking me a question which i answered and thinks i didnt answer which was pretty clear

but he is possibly the biggest and worst homer i have seen in ALONG time...............just look at my location for some quotes from him

bruins have 1 of the best 2nd lines of all time
their 3rd line will be most teams 2nd line
richards would be a 3rd line lw

i miss him on here and that new dallas guy

with the rise of the cap floor and the number of financially struggling teams, i don't think that it's unrealistic to discuss these types of deals.

it's a very logical thing to do for teams losing mountains of money. saving a few million should be paramount to some of these teams' strategies knowing that they won't make the playoffs anyway.

Whoa guy, he's not there yet. He went back to high school last year instead of Georgetown. Now we're working on if it's Harvard or Brown he's hitting up.
