honestly haven't worked on drawing the human figure since life drawing classes in college, this is good practice

ill be honest i tried hobby but failed and got livid.

i tried to do the light outline sketch method but it just goes against all my instincts... i need to reprogram my art-brain.

i did begin some work on my original character though. we'll see.

this time i did a whole light sketch first
i was wondering if doing that would speed up the process for me but it didn't. i still took probably 3 hours to draw it.

i have an idea for my original character but have not planned it or drawn anything

Srsly though Crims I do a sketch first all the time. I make a stick man then quickly make the shapes, check to see if I've lined things up in the proper spot, take a break, come back and look at it with fresh eyes and then continue once I'm happy.

That's the whole reason I've been able to improve quickly.

Eventually after doing this enough times I will be able to drop the sketching phase but that's a long way off.

And frankly, I don't think my proportions and positioning have been that bad. I think Dave is beating me because her shading is 1000 times nicer and her lines are crisper.
