i honestly like the old fashioned way better myself.

but i'm a little older and i come from a time when dating services were for losers.

it sounds like everyone uses them now, but i still can't imagine saying "i met such-and-such on a dating service"

when i was young a girl from the internet (an aol chatroom! so that's how long ago it was) did come into the store i was working in to check me out when she realized we lived near each other and we dated for about a year. but that was as close as i've come to meeting a girl online. and at the time it was just sheer luck that she was hot. most of the people online back then were 3 hundo pounders with as many kids as they had arrests on their record.

well i mean i understand that times have changed and even cute girls are on these sites now. it just would seem weird because when i was in my teens and twenties it wasn't how we met people.

like if i met a girl off tinder or whatever it is nowadays i still feel like we'd have to make up a lie to tell people to save face. like, "okay when our friends and families asks where we met we'll say we bumped into each other in line at rita's water ice"

i suppose it's tempting to cut out a lot of the work involved in meeting someone, but a lot of times the initial conversation or situation is what makes the whole thing happen.

like one time at a bar a girl came over and put a napkin in my hand. on the napkin she had written this really cute note that started out "Dear man in the star t shirt, I really like your hat..." and then she went on and at the bottom left me her phone number.

it was cute cause she was real shy and she did the napkin thing and sometimes it's the stuff like that that makes you interested in a person.
