i'm pretty sure hartnell would be gone if this were the case
- NJFlyersFan

that wasnt the question you posed to Buts. I was just replying that MOST players will waive to teams they want to waive to --- see gagne, simon

Homer said as much as 10 teams called for Hartnell at the deadline.

Homer kept him and he had a very good playoff.

Looks like a good move by Homer right now.

exactly.
that is the only reason I wold trade him.
If Kimo or Briere won't go and they won't just send hartnell to the A, then that leaves you with dealing Carter.
or both Coburn and Carle

- nails

So you would trade Carter just based on the fact that he doesn't have a No trade clause? For the life of me, I can't understand that logic.

Personally for me to trade Carter it not only has to be something that will knock me off my chair but make the team better now and in the long term of the franchise.

Seeing as that type of offer is not likely to arrive I see no need to even consider moving Carter.

I am pretty sure that he meant was carter is more of a tradable asset cause he doesnt have a NTC/NMC like someone who does, ie briere hartnell. Also at carters age and RFA status -- makes him more of a tradeable commidity then some other players

Neither would I. Neither the fact that Carter doesn't have a NTC/NMC, nor his RFA status after this Season, are legitimate reasons for trading him in my opinion.

Put this together for fun just to see what kind of production we could expect from the current lineup. JvR and Giroux see increased production w/ elevated responsibility, Carter flirts w/ 40-goals but just misses, Leino is a regular point producer but, as expected, is well off his playoff pace, Briere and Hartnell have nice bounce-back campaigns, Meszaros plays well when healthy. Forwards fare well w/ injuries, but defense is not as durable as last season. Goaltending is unspectacular, with Leighton and Boucher splitting duties, but team-defense is improved and keeps shots down.

Projected 2010-11 Production & Line-Up

Van Riemsdyk (76GP 24G 32A 56P) | Richards (78GP 29G 43A 72P) | Giroux (82GP 18G 46A 64P)
Hartnell (82GP 25G 29A 54P) | Carter (79GP 37G 33A 70P) | Zherdev (72GP 19G 35A 54P)
Carcillo (72GP 15G 10A 25P) | Briere (76GP 29G 36A 65P) | Leino (54GP 12G 22A 34P)

Powe (65GP 9G 8A 17P) | Legein (27GP 8G 4A 12P) | Testwuide (14GP 2G 2A 4P)

I really don't think we'd get fair value in a trade that sent Carter the other way.

I disagree. Hartnell didn't really do well until the finals. 9 of his 17 points in the playoffs came against Chicago. I thought he was horrible in the first round where he only had 1 point against NJ.

No love for the Shelly!

Except for JVR which I would say is a little high, I think all of these numbers are reasonable. Even JVR has the capability to put up those numbers. I also think the Giroux prediction is dead on accurate.

we have already, so we don't need to waste anyone's time.
All I meant was that he understands my position, whether he or anyone else agrees doesn't necessarily matter.
when someone says they understand but disagree, I am totally cool with that.
when someone basically implies that I am a moron for having a view point is what bugs me. But only a little. it is the interweb afterall.

No one has said anything close to saying that you or anyone is a moron. It's quite simple. the reasons being given for why Carter is a logical choice to be traded, isn't logical at all. And we can debate that if you'd like. You made the comment that some people don't get it. I simply replied that we can find out who get's it and who doesn't.

Obviously it's just a guesstimate for conversation purposes. But two numbers I don't like is 54 games player for Leino and 45 GP for Shelley.
