He's not the worst I've ever heard but he is clearly doing a lot of things people think are complex because they sound like a lot is happening, but are actually very simple (like tapping simple arpeggios).

First he starts with annoying chromatic scale licks which most guys do because they think it makes them sound different but it's really just boring.

He clearly is very bad at alternate picking. I mean really bad. Most of his scale runs are completely hammered on except the first note and at 3:17 he finally tries a picking run and screws it up.

His sweeps are very messy.

Without his reverb his guitar tone would sound paper thin.

He reminds me of a poor man's Eric Johnson mixed with the musical taste of Al Di Meola.

Listen to this opening run, how he picks so much of it. That's the type of thing your guy is trying to do but hasn't put in the time.
