The kickboxing and jiu jitsu place I checked out didn't impress me too much.

The kickboxing coach was good and he kept me after class to give me an actual workout when he saw I already knew how to box and was way ahead of the rest of the slobs there. That was good of him.

The jiu-jitsu and jujitsu classes had potential but they were too traditional martial arts school for me and not gym enough. All you can do is go to these classes and by the time you're done bowing and doing a poopty series of pansy exercises you have like 20 minutes to learn the martial art. That way they keep you paying for a long time. I like it better at the boxing gym where you can show up whenever you want and there's always someone there ready to fight you or work on something with you.

Also the cost of the place is prohibitive at 80 bucks biweekly with a 300 dollar enrollment fee.

Yeah I had a feeling the place you were going wouldn't be to great. There's a lot of great gyms in my area, and whenever someone tells me they want to get into MMA I try my best to help them go to a gym with some credibility.

The price of that place is way to high. When I was going to the Lions Den, it was 120 enrollment and 90 a month. That gym actually had great trainers to. I got to meet Ken Shamrock at the gym too, he didn't say much, I think he was just checking up on his place.

Every place that says MMA around here is just a place that used to be a cruddy martial arts dojo that is trying to make $$$ off the UFC's popularity. It's ridiculous.

Almost every student there was in terrible physical condition. One of them was trying to put an arm bar on me and I didn't know I was just supposed to go along with it so I kept my arm curled thinking he would force it down. He couldn't and he went "uh, usually we don't resist when practicing" and I kind of died a little inside.

Boxing gym is 70 a month. Workout whenever you want and the classes will actually whip you into shape fast.

I dunno what to say. Everything sucks around here.
