Cities that are likely smaller, and hockey is bigger in Canada than baseball, football or basketball is in the US. The only cities which are comparable are Canadian cities, and the largest ones at that. Montreal and Vancouver to be even more specific.

no it's not, football has just as much of a fan base and viewership at the high school and college level as it does at the professional level. High school hockey games have parents in the stands in Canada, in the US, the entire towns attend the school's football games. Football is way bigger in the US than hockey is in Canada.

go to small towns in Canada and you'll see the rinks filled for midget a games... go to highschool football games in big cities in the states, and you don't see that massive draw... in small towns, kids sports are always a good draw.

I'm sure there are situations like that in the States. But minor league hockey receives no where near the attention in Canada that minor league football receives in the US. I've seen on many occasions strangers playing soccer together, but it doesn't make soccer big in Canada.

The passion for the sports may be equal, if not more so for hockey, but football is a much bigger sport overall in the US than hockey is in Canada.

You might be right. I don't know. I just thought it was a funny example of how passionate we are about the game of hockey.
It's quite hard to measure passion, especially over such an heterogeneous population.

It's not going to happen. Which isn't a big deal to me. I'd rather not see a bottom 5 finish (and still don't think it will happen), but whatever.

And there are rumors that Edmonton might see Tyler Seguin as a better fit, being a Center.............and that would leave Taylor Hall, a left winger, for Boston if toronto remains in 29th, as I feel they will.

I don't buy for a second Edmonton won't take Hall. Last June, most of the media claimed the Islanders might not take Tavares #1 overall(even the night before the draft) and that turned out to not be true at all.

Just passing on what I heard, that when looking at the prospects already in their system, Edmonton may be better off selecting a Center (a need) over a left winger.

Of course, but just because a team sellouts but performs sub-par on the ice, does not make them a better team over one that does not sellout, but performs well on the ice, and makes the playoffs on a regular basis.
