Unlike Timothy Cleary from the famous Simon and Garfunkel song, the possibility of Daniel Cleary still joining the Flyers is NOT dead. (And if get that reference you are like me....getting older by the second!)

This update comes from a trusted source with direct knowledge to the situation..the rumors the NHL stepped in are completely false as well. This just looks like a case of Detroit stepping up a bit last minute..stay tuned.

What were they supposed to do this off-season? No really I'm curious as to what you think. I'm glad they did nothing and are going into a full cleansing of the abomination that was the old culture/core. It's not pretty and it's not fair but like it or not this is our best shot at building a contender.

Let's face it, all the money in the world won't make Buffalo a desirable destination for top FA. We need to build through the draft and then once we have a good team then more players will be interested. Which brings me back to my original point, I don't want to be the leafs of 2008 and the Calgary Flames of 2011. I don't want this team taking shortcuts just to appease a fan base that's lost it's patience.

Don't get me wrong, I feel for long time sabres fans and you definitely don't deserve this but the fact is if the sabres had gone out a spent money we would have battled for 8th, missed out and be having the same (frank)ing conversation all over again. There is no quick fix that will make fans happy, rebuilding/retooling this team will be painful and fans will be upset. If there is one thing this management team is doing right it's the fact that they are staying the course with a full on rebuild (so far fingers crossed) and not letting angry fans force them to deviate and go all Denis Wideman or Jason Allison on our asses.

Everyone wanted change, they wanted an elite team that can sustain it's position amongst the NHL's elite. I know nobody likes to hear it but seriously, no pain no gain. I would much rather us be the laughing stock of the NHL for three years leading to say 6 years of elite hockey than constantly be in the middle trying to patch our team up with overpriced veterans.

As for Darcy, it's worth noting that even if he is totally incapable of being a reasonable GM, it's hard for him to screw up picking that high in the draft particularly because it's mostly Devine doing the picking.

i would but ignoring you is so frustrating. i also said iwas done talking about pacioretty, but you continued a dead point. im having a hard time pegging you. you are either 19 or youre one of dem classic albertan know it alls. probably grew up in a small town or farm, has had their fair share of prairie oysters and drinking and driving, probably had a mistake or 2 with a cousin as well. now youre at home trying to troll "one of dem classic frenchie quebecers" on something they didnt even say. back to your old ass, probably simply educated, is lonely and single or bored with his wife. am i getting this right? do you work at a gas station?
