You're quite prolific...for a 2 year old (mentality). It's about now, not way back when...and right now the Canucks are infinitely better than the Leafs (and many other teams). Getting to Game 7 of the finals is no slight feat. As for the Luongo grease 'jokes' and the Sedins sister 'jokes' -- how out of touch are you anyway? Those references are so old and out-dated that it shows that maybe you are as stupid as your posts seem to indicate. Or maybe you're just a teenage wanker with nothing better to do -- and little knowledge to back it up. As well, if you really are going to try to be prolific, you should learn some basic spelling and writing skills. Who cares who won what back then? Your stance (and others -- like the NJ goof) that states because one team has one a cup and another hasn't means that you have more credibility than another is a howler! Have you ever heard of logic -- you certainly have none. Your posts are among the stupidest I've ever read since the inception of HB (along with NJ goof). You'd love to have the Sedins and/or Luongo on your team -- most teams in the league would. You probably don't remember or even know how much Kesler used to get run down here as a player (over-rated and all that). Get with it or begone with you and your peurile commentary.

Yeah, sorry for supporting the team...Do you ever read any of my posts in their entirety, or are you blinded by the fact that I'm not a fairweather fan like a bunch of you? For someone who has Larry Robinson as his avatar, you of all people should know that supporting a team means sticking with the team through thick and thin.

I never said he was awesome, but there's no reason to sh!t all over a guy just because of his contract, especially when he got said contract with another team. Since his arrival in Montreal, he's been great with the media, the fans, and his teammates. All the young players have praised him in terms of being supportive and a good leader. Sure, it's not worth $7 million+, but if supporting a member of the team makes me delusional, then I'm fine with that.

Better than being part of the chicken little group who want to trade the team and fire the entire front-office staff when the team loses a few games, just to hop back on the bandwagon when they start winning IMO.

What a disgusting article written by someone with no internal facts or contacts that could ever support such outrageous conclusions.

Never has an EK blog only served to cause discourse betwen the emotional fan and the knowlegable fan.

Who the hell are you EK to make such comments under the guise of "blogger". I thought your expertise was about trades and come from internal sources that only you seem to have connection to.

No, this was much closer to a character assassination than blog.

You may say you have sympathies and suggest that the market has out of control expectations but no where does anyone suggest that a Florida trade is a cure-all for a goalie whose problems are exaserbated only due to his high profile and expectations.

Why did you not like making him captain? Did that not fit your proflie of a hockey team? Do you have significant facts that show it was too much for him and effected his game? Tangible proof?

I did not see any other comment about traditional slow Octobers. I did not see any other comment about his year end numbers over the past 4 years being in the top 5 of all goalie major stat categories.

So EK, your blogs are best when they are insightful.... not inciting.

Keep to E4's about Turris to Vancouver or lunch meetings with Nashville yet have no advance comment about the largest mid season trade the Canucks have made in years, that being the Booth trade.

All this blog does is no create a feeling of empowerment to trolls outside the Vancouver market and can point to you as "fact" when it is only your singular conjecture.

You fan the flames of the emotional fan who could not name the Canuck farm team but have an adequate recognition of a good goalie and a bad one.

Do you not like his contact? Then join the "Occupy Movement" and sing to the heavens about large contracts and their rare connection to a Stanley Cup.

Man oh man does this buffalo team suck! I know you want to know why so please refer to my points below.

Point #1- Miller is an absolute seive. This guy is an absolute a#sh&le who is so full of himself. He has easily become the luongo of the East and now fans of all other teams can't wait to give it to him in their building let alone the "sabre fans" giving it to him in their own building. Sources say he is tired of eating at TGIF and looking at women with no teeth. Miller trade rumours to follow (E5).

Point #2- "Pegulaville" or whatever its called. Give me a break. The frivolous spending on free agents (Leino signing). Its hard to watch folks, it really is. Stay classy "Garth" with all the bragging of the money Pegula spends. So your locker room has a granite counter top, three new apple computers and a fireplace. Big deal. You can't polish a turd. Do you think that granite counter top will back check and kill penalties. Do you think a $5000 piece of rock is gonna make a difference to a hockey club? I thought we are playing hockey not extreme home makeover. This Pegula sounds like a try hard who has no friends.

Point #3- Referring to the Jets game tonight. Wow! How many powerplays does this Sabres team need to win. Every game this team needs the power play to win. I believe this team is becoming the Vancouver Canucks of the East. No one likes your Sabre team. The constant whining of the players, the obnoxious fans who can't support their own football team which brings a garbage 5-4 Bills team to Canada.
Point #4- Well, I could go on and on but I'll save it for the next Sabre loss or when Miller is traded to Florida (E3) for anyone with heart and grit.

Talk to you guys later,

Signed,
A hockey fan.

After much thought, i've decided to make my first post after being only a quiet reader for a while now.

I'll agree with everyone here that the lack of response was a little... disappointing, i think would be the most appropriate word. however, after storming away from the disaster that ended up being that game, i watched what happened immediately after the hit several times, and tried to think about it from a less impassioned stance.

the first thing that came to mind was the good ol' ottawa brawl in 2007. sabres went through a lot of rigamarole afterwards (fines, suspensions, hearings), things that were specifically directed towards the NATURE (purely retaliatory) of Ruffs decision. Something tells me the nhl took a hard stance against buffalo, due to the nature of the event (buffalo sends out its goons specifically to throw down). The nhl is CLEARLY trying to move away from that type of play... everything they say and do indicates they are trying to move away from a game policed by players, and instead towards a game that makes players NOT want to make those hits and take those suspensions and fines.

To an extent I can agree. No other professional sport is more "enforced" by the players then hockey, and in the past it was an even larger component of the sport. allowing players to enforce their own sport runs the inherent risk of "trading players" in a physical sense. You take out our goalie so we take out yours. You throw a dirty check on one of our stars, so we send out a goon to rough up your star (or your whole team). It can quickly lead to a situation where you have "dispensable players" whos only purpose is to take people out, and to a situation where you have less physically capable, talented players, who avoid certain parts of hockey that put you at a greater risk.

I feel strongly that the nhl should work similarly to how the nfl is handling it's violent aspects. Rarely is there a brawl over a hit in the NFL, no matter how hard. Instead you regularly see 50 thousand dollar fines, and massive 200 thousand dollar fines for repeat players. The impact it's having on the game is visible.

A team should be emotional and rightly pissed when one of its stars gets leveled by a "dirty" hit, but the first response shouldn't be an equally dirty hit to the bruins goaltender, or a bench clearing brawl. Roughing lucic up and WINNING THE GAME would have sent a strong enough message. They had every opportunity to win that game, and they didn't.

On a personal level i would have loved to see lucic get railed, but the dude is huge. Realistically the only people that fight and that could have handled him were kaleta, mccormick, and gausted. kaleta just came off a 4 game suspension. mccormick is nursing stitches in his face from the last fight, and gausted was tied up IMMEDIATELY by chara AND horton.

For the rest of the game after the hit you can also see the refs taking a proactive stance to attempting to stop any scuffles before they even began.

For me the most painful aspect, beside the injury to miller, is the absolute disaster the game became afterwards. We could have showed merely a more physical presence to establish that we, as a team, aren't pushovers. They could have capitalized on the numerous power play opportunities that would have shown that we have the skill and talent to punish you if you're going to take stupid penalties. We did neither. As many people have pointed out, we did nothing. Doing nothing was exacerbated by the absolute beatdown we received.

Basically i find the fact that we weren't able to put that emotion onto the ice and win a hockey game that we had every opportunity to win more disappointing then us not "gooning it up". we aren't a goon squad. we'll never be the boston bruins (at least not with the players we have now) and we shouldn't try to pretend or act like we are. Our response should never have been "okay lets go lay out thomas" that's not our team.

In a perfect world i would have liked to see a more frenzied effort to get after lucic following the play. After that was over, i would have expected us to come out with a little fire and rack up the goals. The game should have been a blowout in buffalos favor after a hit like that, not the other way around.

It shouldn't have sucked the life out of them, and instead should have lit a fire under them. I dont need to see an equally dirty/physical play for "retribution".

edit: i apologize for such a long post! apparently i should have vented in several more reasonable length replies instead of bottling it all up for one huge rant.

Funny how you never even send counter offers to anyone but your able to negotiate 3 blockbuster trades with Dino., while taking back players you sent him initially. Elias and Prospal and Eric Johnson with a wash of Goalers for Sedin. Hart trophy contender. While he has Perry Getzlaf Ryan Malkin Crosby Carter. You dont even demand a top tier talent in return!? Not to mention Price Marleau and Heater for Pax and Salo and Quick. Either you are as (frank)in stupid as gman or as absent as patriot or Boob, (frank)in sinking your team and only openly negotiating with Dino. (frank) you told me that JVR wasnt high enough value for Lucic, but you'll take back your finge guys you traded away already for SEDIN!!!!!!!!! Absurd.

Secondly, you last two genius swaps with Dino work out to Ryder off FA, Elias and Backstrom for SEDIN Neal and Hiller. Now if you have half a (frank)in brain, that poop reaks of collusion or plain (frank)in idiocy. Eitherway. The league is a (frank)in wash cause you cant spread the wealth and are intentionally or not stacking another (frank)in team! Swapping Johnson and Prospal TWICE!?! Did you miss them that much! Did you miss Johnsons -9?! Or Columbus' ripping up of the league and Prospal's perennial reemergence. Worth Sedin!??!? GTF outta here.

YOU ARE SENDING TOP TIER GUYS AND TAKING BACK POO. Elias and Prospal! Alsmost 40 on dirt teams.

If Prax, Muff and Synrd think im off on this. Ill apologize and walk into the sunset and rest my hat on the prock of shame. Otherwise. Go (frank) yourself. And Gman. Suck a (frank)in Richard and go to the Douglas you Mongoloid.

Werd.

Im outs.

I was in the Habs league for a couple years. The second year one manager somehow ended up ripping off 2-3 managers over and over again until his roster was so stacked it was a joke. He'd send me a couple trade proposals every week and they were always insultingly lopsided too, although he'd type an essay on why it would be good for me thinking that'd fool me

Wish I remember who it was.

Why do people fall for his proposals?

Can't knock him for trying considering he consistently finds suckers to take his deals.

He's calmed down this year after NO ONE accepted his proposals last year. We all talked and all agreed "The more he writes, the more trouble you're in"

He's actually a really good guy though...
