Sens played really well. The line of Brassard, Ryan and Stone were +4 on the night.

Ovechken was really good. Kuznetzov was amazing. He owned the puck in the attack zone.

Washington deserved the win.

It really was a great game.

Turris would be 29 when the new contract starts, if he wants 6-8 years I would def look at what you can trade him for. Not many players are still as useful age 32+ and if the cap is 6 or 7 mil

Same thing for Kadri once his deal is up, he is 32 ...move him

I agree. I am a strong believer in peak performance theory. Players hit peak performance (forwards actually as low as age 26) and Dmen around age 30. Goalies have a lot more age tolerance in terms of performance.

Ottawa made a mistake in signing Bobby Ryan to a long term deal. He is not a good technical skater and poor skaters see their game drop off faster than guys who are good mechanical skaters.

When players get beyond peak performance the dollars don't matter as much as the term. Turris has been a good player and he easily has 6 good years left. But not locked in at $6m. for 6 years. (The Turris situation is a bit more tricky because he is a beautiful skater and his game will be good for awhile, but age will always make it less than what it was.)

Some Ottawa fans got agitated a few years ago when I opposed the resigning of Spezza for all these same reasons. He has good personal statistics but his game has not aged well. It is about winning and Spezza has never played on a championship team at any level (not even peewee).

I am not against older players. I am against older players being compensated for past performance.

I would be sorry to see Turris go...but I would be even more sorry if they sign him to a big dollar long term deal.

theyll sign him. theyre too weak down the middle (even with him) to let him go. and with karlsson getting older its win now time.

as sad as it is, turris is arguably the 2nd best/most important player on the sens.

Whoa! My comments about scoreboard primarily relate to people wanting to interpret game results differently than what the scoreboard says. This is especially true as it relates to those who insist Corsi (or other data) is a better reflection of performance than the standings and the scoreboard.

Also, I have no difficulty watching and enjoying a game (at any level) where the team that I am cheering for loses the game.

I don't think I said anything about the Leafs gaining loser points from last year. I did make comments about their difficulty in holding leads. But the scoreboard is the ultimate interpreter of what matters. The other numbers are curios but unimportant to the primary purpose.

I hope they do sign him. But stick to the 4 or 5 year deal (like Hoffman).

Brassard was very good last night (goal and two assists and +4 on the evening). Brown played really well for his first game. White is back in 5 weeks. Chlapik will play in the NHL soon. You have to provide space for the young guys.

agreed. shoot out needs to go. id rather a tie.

sens should get back on track. EK is coming back and their schedule is getting easier.

Ottawa has one of the worst schedules in the NHL this season, in respect to back to back games............. no team has more back to back games than Ottawa, and there's the Sweden road trip.

I think Patrick Marleau is much older that 32, and he was signed to a 3 year / $18,750,000 contract with the leafs, including a $14,500,000 signing bonus, $18,750,000 guaranteed, and an annual average salary of $6,250,000. cap hit of $6,250,000.

So I guess it's your assertion that he is one of those "not many players" ........ right?

I was referring more to their next two games. Wings and Canucks both teams Sens can easily beat. But yea back to backs can be a pain. I think sens will play the same back to backs this year that the Leafs played last year and vice versa.

For the sens sake, considering they're an older and more bruised up team, hopefully they'll find a way to get through it.

Like jagr he seems to be one of a rare breed of exceptions. The guy can still fly out there and score. I didn't like the contract, felt the Leafs needed a vet like him though. His play so far, short window I know, has exceeded expectations. He was a luxury the Leafs could afford without hurting the team.

Down the road though, there could be an issue with the Cap, if it does not high enough, when the leafs need to sign some of their key players whose ELCs run out.

He’s clearly far from his peak at this point. He’s been brought in to supplement a very young team, for the short term.

Hasn't missed a game in 8 seasons - a stud. On the Leafs will score more than last year, should easily have 30 goals this year, which would be more than any Sens player scored last season.

The Leafs have traditionally seen many back to backs per season, because of the number of events that happen at the ACC.

wont be an issue. by then lots of other contracts will have expired. and previous cap hits from buyouts etc.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is it the MLSE that owns and operates the ACC, and controls the building availability for their two main tenants?
