I think it is more than that. Some of the guys that are closer to the scene seem to be trying to wind down Leaf expectations. I think they are all aware of the potential backlash if Leafs stumble out of the gate.

I don't think any of it is wrong...just think they are being a bit more prudent.

I think you are lost and reading way to much into what "Insider" Gord Miller thinks.

there are a couple people you should pay attention to..mainly Just Bob Mckenzie, the rest like Miller are fluff and imo there is not much value in what they have to say

Guy has been involved in the league for like 30 years but yeah, probably just fluff with zero perspective.

Nobody will be surprised if the Leafs go through a slight regression. Every young team experiences rough patches and they won't creep up on teams this year. I suspect Marner might be candidate number #1 for this type of situation.

Overall they have a very deep team up front, however. If Andersen plays as well as he did last year they should compete for 1st place in the division imo.

So has Pierre Mcguire and if you ask Steve Simmons he has been watching hockey for 50 years and is an expert

People can do things for many years, doesnt mean they are good at it. Especially when we can see all the others work.

It's also worth noting that Andersen started last year injured, and the Leafs lost Rielly and Marner to injury as well, during the season.

With guys like Leivo and Kapanen ready to step into the line-up, and Brown likely starting on the 4th line, I'm not too worried about injuries up front. A goalie injury would be pretty devastating.

I signed up very early on, mainly because I like to read the work Tyler Dellow does.
Since then they added several people I was reading already like Dom luszxhayszyn (spelling might be off) and Scott Wheeler. Obviously I like the stats heavy articles which I get there.

also now Cory Pronman is a writer..so now I can see his prospect ranking and such which I couldnt before when he was behind the espn insider paywall.

And since then they have added a ton of good talent, not your Steve Simmons trashy stuff

all that said it works for me, we all have different tastes in what we like but I think they have now added a bit for everyone if you like the articles with a story instead of a bunch of stats.

- senstroll

yeah. i've seen they are adding a ton of people.

they're running a discount. i think i'm going to bite the bullet and pay the $3.50/month

thanks.

I wish I could justify it

But I feel I spend too much time on this site, to start spending money for more hockey stuff.

I don't think Chabot starts in Belleville. If he does, it is because of numbers and a need to move a Dman out. He has outplayed all the Dmen in camp. He has a presence and should be on the second pairing opening night.

Also likely Logan Brown centres 2nd line. He has been Sens leading scorer so far.

- spatso

The only reason Chabot and Brown stay in Ottawa for the opening of the season, is for injury replacement.

When all NHL players, signed to one way contracts are healthy, Chabot is Belleville bound, and Brown goes back to junior.

The Senators are NOT going to make trades to make room for either of them, until they've actually taken away someone's (on a one way contract) job.

Remember, Brown has played zero minutes in the NHL ............. NO, pre season games do not count, and Chabot just 7 minutes and 6 seconds.

Last night on a TSN panel they wanted to discuss Canadian teams, specifically how would you rank them. The host wanted the discussion to focus on who is better Edmonton or Toronto. Gord Miller ruined the panel by saying Oil first Sens second.

You guys need to listen to how the insiders are shaping their comments. The best one last night is the Leafs have three really good defense men. And, the opposite of that is they have three defense men that are not.................

Gord Miller's key point was that the Senators had an unbelievable number of injuries last year. They had to constantly improvise around the injuries. So, there is good reason to believe that Senators are really more like the team we saw in the playoffs.

The other point Miller made was the Leafs had few injuries. Hard to imagine them not experiencing problems if a key forward or Dman goes down.

Mostly, I think TSN is just beginning to cover against a potential backlash from fans if Leafs struggle coming out of the gate.

You just keep telling yourself that.

Undertand. Also understand that Boucher does not like young people. But, last night Formenton was the Sens best player and it was not even close. He is also the youngest skater still in any NHL camp. If you take out the players that are injured Ottawa has only 10 healthy forwards on their roster (White, Brassard and MacArthur). White is a rookie. I don't know how Ottawa can start the season without having rookie forwards in the lineup? Maybe there is a trade coming?

A trade for what? Who is getting traded for who?

I just see Ottawa filling in their injuries with players from Belleville, or perhaps holding on to a Junior player for a few games (less than 10) ............... but once the injuries are cleared up, back to the AHL or Junior they go.

Gord Miller did say, in his mind, Alfredsson isn't a Hall of Famer.

I wonder if Spazzo will discredit him, now.

Wasn't he already a senator?

Pretty sure he was going to be better than Kessel according to a certain citizen of this thread, not too long ago.
