Damn, you hate it when I'm right

Explain this to me then, smart guy. What if the leafs had ten games left to play, and the Wing and Jackets each had 8 games left to play, would the leafs have a better shot at getting into the playoffs than they do now, and would those two extra games left matter???

- Doppleganger

Change the argument, quick!

If the Leafs had more games to play, but had the same point percentage they do now, they wouldn't be better off, no.

If they had more games to play, and had the same amount of points they do now, they would be in a better position... but they'd also have a higher point percentage.

We were calling you an idiot(rightfully so) because you were double counting games played, by bringing it up as an advantage when talking about point percentage.

Get it? Got it? No? Oh well.

Sorry, that's not what I was saying, that's you trying to put words into my mouth.

Please quote me where I was double counting anything.

I know it was a hard concept for you to wrap your head around at the time, as teams with more points, don't always have a better record than a team behind them in the standings, because the standings are based on points, and NOT points percentage. Teams with games in hand have the advantage of making up ground on teams having played more games, by winning them.

Get it?

If you did not understand it then, I doubt you'll grasp it now.

Deny it all you want, dopps.

You're as much a winner as your team.

I'm sure you proudly display your participation trophies, too.

So you CAN'T quote me, saying the words you're putting into my mouth.

I'll take that as a confirmation that you can't back up your false accusation.............again.

- Doppleganger

yes, today

toronto .541 in 49 games
Ottawa .532 in 47 games
- Doppleganger

why is number of games played relevant with point percentages?
-Feeling Glucky?

Because "games in hand" are important, and puts a little more perspective on the standings.
- Doppleganger

This is you, double counting games in hand.

Now go ahead and deny that, despite it being right there.

Is this how leaf fans, like yourself, take out the rage you have for your team's abysmal performance of the past 6 games, and crash diving into the NHL Draft Lottery?

Ottawa is the only team in the NHL to announce what chance they have at doing anything significant in any given year in their "logo"

Oh silly leaf fans

The only thing you can hang your hat on is that the leafs owners sign players to retirement contracts (Clarkson and Phaneuf) to play like crap when it counts, by sucking millions of dollars out of their fans pockets by charging the highest ticket prices in the NHL.

SO in your silly minds, because the leafs spend tons more cash, than the Senators, to play just enough to finish a little ahead of the Senators, and miss the playoffs again.

WOO HOOOO !!!!

Still deflecting

I love your melt-downs when you're called on your BS. Much more entertaining than your disappearing acts.

Though those are pretty (frank)ing sweet, too.

Really, you can't go wrong with either option.

Some teams sign highly sought-after free agents who wind up being busts, others trade one of the league's best goalies for waiver bait, and top-10 picks for 2nd liners on expiring contracts.

You must be in a state of complete shock.

You're pulling out the leafs spend more money than the Senators card, as if that's your way of proving the leafs are so much better than the Senators.

Is there a Banner for spending the most money?

And now you're trying to prove I was wrong, when I pointed out, during the Olympics, that the leafs had a tougher schedule, and fewer games to play, than the other teams they were in a race with, for a playoff spot.

Well, it does look there was some truth to that opinion after all.

So lash out all you want, it just makes my smile just a little wider each time.

Yeah right, last year, Bishop was one of the best goaltenders in the NHL.

That's just weak, even for you.

And trading a first rounder, in a weak draft, for our (now) top goal scorer, who averages 30 goals plus, per every 82 games played in the NHL, is only a bad trade in your eyes.

Also, doesn't every player have a contract that is expiring???

That too was weak.

While some other teams draft well, make smart free agent signings, and make good trades. Those teams tend to end up being cup contenders.

When Clarkson was a UFA, he was on Ottawa's radar, but it turns out he was just driving up his price to sign with the leafs.

Meanwhile Ottawa signed MacArthur to 2 Million less per year, for only two years (his contract is expiring too) and he's scored 22 goals and has 49 points.

So when compared to Clarkson, it sure looks like the smarter UFA signing, after one season.

There aren't many signings that weren't smarter than the Clarkson signing. Raymond was one of them for example. I think he likely walks after this season but at $1M he was a real bargain.

He scored 45 goals in his last two seasons with the Devils, and that includes the 48 game season.

What is the reason for his lack of scoring this season. I don't see the leafs play that much, so would I be wrong assuming he's not being used right by the coach?
